> Email, SMS and social marketing for small businesses

Constant Contact is a marketing platform for small businesses built around email campaigns, with automations, landing pages, surveys, event pages and social posting alongside. It sells three plans, Lite, Standard and Premium, each priced by the number of contacts. A companion iPhone and iPad app handles campaigns, contacts and reports away from the desk.

## Ways to pay less

- **Save 15% with yearly billing** (Annual discount): Constant Contact's pricing page says prepaying for 12 months saves up to 15%, and nonprofits that prepay save up to 30%. Source: https://www.constantcontact.com/pricing

## Good for

- Small businesses that want email, social posts and events in one account
- Owners who want phone support from a live person
- Agencies managing marketing for several small clients

## Worth knowing

- The US pricing page shows yearly-billed prices, 15% below paying monthly; the monthly figures and the contacts each starting price covers were not shown.
- Monthly sends are capped at 10 to 24 times the contact tier, by plan; extra emails cost $0.002 each.
- The bill follows the highest contact tier reached; once you send at a higher tier, it cannot be lowered.
- SMS marketing is sold as a separate monthly add-on to an email plan.

## ToolGPA grades

**GPA: 2.6 out of 4**, graded Oct 17, 2026. Constant Contact puts email, social posts, surveys and event pages in one account for a small business, and its iPhone app is one of the best rated in the category. The catch is the plans: Lite can't even schedule a send, so most people end up on Standard at $29.75 a month. And there's no free plan, only a 30-day trial.

- **Value for money: D.** Lite is $10.20 a month on yearly billing, which looks cheap. But it can't schedule a send and has 1 automation template. Scheduling and subject-line tests need Standard at $29.75, more than twice what a typical email tool charges, and custom automations need Premium at $68.
- **Free plan and trial: C.** No free plan. There's a 30-day trial with up to 100 email sends, and it ends on its own rather than rolling into a plan. Enough to try the editor, not to run a real campaign to your list.
- **Features: B.** Email with AI writing help, automations, segments, landing pages, sign-up forms, surveys, event pages and posting to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. That's the whole job and a bit more. SMS is a separate monthly add-on.
- **Ease of use: A.** 4.76 from 10,653 App Store ratings for its iPhone and iPad app, the top band. You can check campaigns, contacts and reports from your phone.
- **Platforms and integrations: B.** Web plus an iPhone and iPad app, and it posts straight to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. No Android or desktop app, though, and no API or other integrations on record.

These are ToolGPA's own grades. Graded from this listing, whose facts were read from Constant Contact's own pages on 17 October 2026, and its App Store rating. Its pricing page turned our reader away when we checked it again, so the prices are the listing's. Not based on using the product, and shorter than our full reviews.

## Where it stands among email marketing and newsletter tools

- Constant Contact's GPA of 2.6 is higher than 15 of the 24 other email marketing and newsletter tools we grade, and level with 5.
- It stands best on ease of use (A, above 23 of 24) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).
- Its paid plans start at $10.20 a month, against a middle price of $13 for the category: 7 of the 22 others that charge start lower.
- On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 3.3 out of 4, and no tool on the category's chart scores higher without costing more.

## Keep it, or make your own?

**Keep it.** To replace Constant Contact you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one. It costs $122.40 a year.

- You could make: Forms: an app builder makes this well.
- You could not: Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
- You could not: Email sent in volume that still reaches the inbox.
- You could not: Texts from a business number, registered with the carriers.
- You could not: A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
- You could not: AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- You could not: The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

A judgement by ToolGPA from this listing, by rules that are the same for every tool. Nothing was built to test it.
