# Passpack

> Web-based password manager for teams and small businesses

Passpack is a password manager sold to teams and businesses rather than individuals. It runs in the browser with a Chrome extension and an iPhone app, encrypts each user's account with a zero-knowledge model, and shares passwords with individuals or teams. The Business plan adds single sign-on, multiple administrators, Active Directory, advanced reporting and an API.

## Key features

- **Zero-knowledge encryption:** Data is encrypted on the device with each user's own Packing Key before it reaches Passpack's servers, which Passpack says it cannot decrypt.
- **Sharing with people and teams:** Share passwords and notes with individuals or with teams, transfer ownership of records, and send a one-time share to someone outside the account.
- **Built-in TOTP codes:** Stores time-based one-time codes beside the logins they protect, alongside password generation, labels, custom notes and password history.
- **Admin controls and audit logs:** Business adds multiple administrators, session time limits, domain restrictions, account resets, advanced activity reporting and unlimited change history.
- **Single sign-on and Active Directory:** Business users can sign in with corporate credentials, and the iPhone app supports login with Google or Microsoft (Azure).
- **Browser extension autofill:** The Chrome extension fills and logs in to saved sites and picks up new or changed credentials as you enter them.

## Good for

- Small teams that want a low per-user price for shared passwords
- Businesses that need single sign-on and several administrators
- Managed service providers holding client credentials

## Worth knowing

- There is no free plan and no plan for individuals; Teams is limited to 20 people.
- Apps are listed only for iPhone and Chrome, with Firefox and Edge extensions coming soon; on Android and desktops Passpack runs in a web browser.
- Single sign-on, Active Directory, the API and advanced reporting need the Business plan, whose monthly price is not published.

## ToolGPA grades

**GPA: 2.4 out of 4**, graded Oct 18, 2026. Passpack is a password manager for teams, not for one person: everyone gets their own encrypted account and you share logins with people or groups. Teams is cheap at $1.66 a user a month paid yearly. The catch is reach, with apps only for iPhone and Chrome, so Android and desktop users work in a browser.

- **Value for money: B.** Teams is $1.66 a user a month paid yearly, inside the cheap end of this category, for up to 20 people with unlimited passwords and sharing. Single sign-on, Active Directory, the API and the admin controls need Business at $4.50, the dear end.
- **Free plan and trial: C.** No free plan and no plan for individuals, but a 28-day free trial with no credit card. That's long enough to move a small team over before anyone pays.
- **Features: C.** Zero-knowledge encryption, sharing with people and teams, one-time shares with outsiders, built-in TOTP codes and password history. The gap the listing names is autofill: the only extension is for Chrome, with Firefox and Edge coming soon, and there's no Android app.
- **Ease of use: C.** No rating on record. It's a team tool, so someone sets up the account, the teams and the sharing first. Autofill only works in Chrome and on iPhone; anywhere else you're in the web app.
- **Platforms and integrations: B.** Web, iPhone and a Chrome extension, with sign-in through Google, Microsoft or Active Directory, YubiKey support and an API on Business. No desktop or Android app, and Firefox and Edge are still to come.

## Keep it, or make your own?

**Keep it.** To replace Passpack you would be making a password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one. That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 16 of the 17 other password managers grade higher. It costs $19.92 a year.

- You could not: A password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves.
- You could not: A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
- You could not: It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- You could not: It plugs into other products, Google Chrome, Active Directory and Google among them, and has an API.
- You could not: End-to-end encryption done properly.
- You could not: What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: single sign-on and audit logs.
