## Ways to pay less

- **Free classroom accounts** (Education): TherapyNotes is free for simulated practices in a classroom, whatever the class size; these accounts leave out insurance and other billing features. ## Key features

- **TherapyPortal:** A custom client portal for secure messages, documents, forms and outcome measures, which can be sent to every active client at once.

- **Mobile app and support:** An iPhone, iPad and Android companion app for the agenda, client details offline, messaging and telehealth, plus 24/7 live phone and email support for every user.

Solo is $69 a month, among the dearest starts here, Group rises to $89 plus $60 a clinician from 1 December 2026, and checks, claims, reminders and AI are all charged on top.

- **Value for money: D.** Solo is $69 a month for one user, in the dearest tenth of this category, which starts at $59.90. Much is then per use: 14¢ an eligibility check or reminder, 25¢ an e-claim from December. Group goes from $79 plus $50 a clinician to $89 plus $60 on 1 December 2026.
- **Free plan and trial: C.** A 30-day free trial on every plan, and no free plan. The listing doesn't say whether the trial asks for a card. Classroom accounts are free, but they leave out billing.

- **Platforms and integrations: B.** Web, plus an iPhone, iPad and Android companion app for the agenda, messages and telehealth. No desktop app, and the listing names no integrations or API.

## Keep it, or make your own?

**Keep it.** To replace TherapyNotes you would be making insurance claims sent to payers through a clearinghouse. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one. That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 5 of the 12 other therapy and clinic software grade higher. It costs $828 a year.

- You could make: Clinical notes: an app builder makes this well.
- You could not: Insurance claims sent to payers through a clearinghouse.
- You could not: Video sessions that meet health privacy rules.
- You could not: Speech turned into text you can trust.
- You could not: A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- You could not: AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- You could not: The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

A judgement by ToolGPA from this listing, by rules that are the same for every tool. Nothing was built to test it.
