Worth knowing
Saturn
- Mobile apps only: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android. No web or desktop version is listed.
- The website still presents Saturn as the calendar built for high school, and the terms limit each school community to students of that school.
- Google Calendar is the only outside calendar the store listings name as a connection.
- The terms of use require users to be at least 13 years old.
Smart Timetable
- Multiple schedules, class and task reminders, device sync, files on tasks and Apple Calendar sync are all listed under Premium.
- The website shows no prices. The US App Store lists five in-app purchases from $0.99 to $7.99 and names a term for only one of them.
- The browser option is described as a web version of your schedule. The site does not say whether a schedule can be edited there.
- No Windows app is listed.
Key features
Saturn
- School schedule formats
- Handles rotating periods, block schedules, A/B days, lunch waves, advisory and flex blocks. The listing says Saturn is in over 20,000 US high schools and can be carried on to college.
- Compare calendars with friends
- Shows when friends and family are free without needing their email address, so overlapping free time can be turned into a plan. Friends appear alongside your own calendar on the home tab.
- Shared and group calendars
- A shared calendar can be made for a trip, a household, a club or a team and joined through a link. Members get change and reminder notifications as events are updated.
- Typed or spoken event entry
- Typing or saying a phrase such as "Dinner with Dylan on Tuesday at 7" puts the event on the calendar. Events, to-dos and reminders can all be added by text or voice.
- Google Calendar and Snapchat
- Google Calendar can be connected so its events appear in Saturn. Connecting Snapchat brings in friends, birthdays and Bitmojis.
- Apple Watch app and widgets
- The Apple Watch app shows a countdown to the end of the current class or event, a schedule view of the day and watch face widgets, synced from the iPhone app.
Smart Timetable
- Rotating and multi-week schedules
- A timetable can repeat over 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks or follow a rotation. Keeping several schedules at once, for school, the gym and so on, is a Premium feature.
- Homework tasks with attachments
- Tasks are added to any day of the schedule and can carry photos, video, audio or documents. Attaching any type of file is listed under Premium.
- Class and task notifications
- Regular class notifications and homework reminders. The vendor's FAQ lists class and task reminders among the Premium features.
- Widgets and watch apps
- Widgets show the current, next or tomorrow's lesson with a countdown to the end of class. There is an Apple Watch app and widget, and Wear OS is supported.
- Schedule sharing
- A schedule can be sent to friends or coworkers by code or by a link to its web version. Sending a schedule that stays in sync is a Premium feature.
- Sync and Apple Calendar
- Premium synchronizes schedules between devices and with Apple Calendar. The App Store listing also mentions iCloud sync and Siri Shortcuts.
