Keyword, traffic and AI visibility research from a Chrome extension
As of Oct 24, 2026, our top pick is SEOquake (3.2 GPA), then Sprout SEO and Keyword Surfer.

Check any page's titles, headings, links, schema and search numbers from a button in your browser.
SEOquake comes first because it pairs page checks with Semrush traffic and backlink figures under every Google result, though those figures are estimates and its Firefox version dates from 2022. Sprout SEO is second for Firefox and Edge users who want page checks with no Semrush tie-in, and Keyword Surfer third for keyword volumes beside Google results. Detailed SEO Extension narrowly missed: it runs the same kind of page checks as Sprout SEO in two browsers, without the Core Web Vitals snapshot or the results sidebar.
Free
For: Most people checking pages and Google results
SEOquake is free from Semrush. Quick View shows a page's title, meta description, headings, canonical and indexability, then audits content, mobile and technical issues; the SERP Overlay puts position numbers and Semrush traffic and backlink figures under each Google result, with CSV export, and it lists the pages an AI Overview cites. Know the limits: the figures are Semrush estimates, not your own analytics, Authority Score, referring domains and Traffic Analytics need a Semrush account, though a free one is enough, and the Firefox version is 3.9.9 from December 2022, against 4.3.0 on Chrome.
SEOquake pricing and detailsFree
For: People on Firefox or Edge who want on-page checks
Sprout SEO is free in Chrome, Firefox and Edge, with no paid version. One panel covers indexability, canonicals, headings, links with their status, images missing alt text, JSON-LD, hreflang and a Core Web Vitals snapshot, and on Google results it adds Trends data, a People Also Ask export and a location simulator. It is second because it has no traffic, ranking or backlink figures of its own and links out to Ahrefs and Semrush for those. It checks one page at a time, and the Wayback exporter stops at about 100,000 URLs per domain.

For: Writers who want keyword volumes while they search
Keyword Surfer is free from Surfer and puts a query's search volume and cost per click beside Google's results, with keyword ideas, traffic and word-count estimates for the ranking pages, CSV collections and data for 70 countries. It is third because it does one part of the job: there are no page checks for titles, headings or schema, and no keyword database to search away from Google. It runs only in Chrome and other Chromium browsers, and the store listing says it handles location, user activity and website content data.

From what each tool's own pages show (price, free plan, platforms, features and limits) and from what people say about it in public reviews and discussions. Not from our own testing. First place goes to the tool that suits the most people, and second and third to the best choices for the readers it leaves out.
