Common questions
What do these charts show?
Each chart is one category of software. Every tool in it is a dot: how far right it sits is what its paid plans start at each month, and how high it sits is its score, the average of ToolGPA's grades for features, ease of use, and platforms and integrations. A line runs through the tools that nothing beats at their price.
Which software gives the most for the money?
It depends on the category, and each chart answers it for its own: the tools on the line are the ones where no other tool scores higher without costing more. In 24 of the 31 categories, the highest-scoring tool starts at under $10 a month.
Which kinds of software cost the least?
By middle starting price, the cheapest categories are Habit Trackers ($2.50 a month), Desktop Utilities ($2.50 a month), Password Managers ($2.67 a month), and the dearest are Forms & Surveys ($24), CRM Software ($24), AI Agents ($21.25). Software sold to teams sits at the dear end, and apps for one person at the cheap end.
Why is a tool missing from its category's chart?
A chart can only place a tool whose price can be put as dollars a month. Tools sold for a single payment, and tools that publish no price, are listed under their category's chart instead, with what their listing does say.
Can a vendor pay to be placed higher?
No. A dot's place is arithmetic: the price is the vendor's own, read from its pricing page, and the score is the average of three grades that every tool gets by the same rules. Nobody can buy a grade.
