Our verdict

First of our top three AI app builders

For: Most people

Replit's Agent turns a description into a working web app or a native iPhone or Android app and publishes it, with a managed database, file storage, sign-in and hosting included. It runs on the web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android, and its iPhone and iPad app averages 4.7 from about 21,000 ratings. Core is $18 a month, billed annually, with $20 of monthly credits, unlimited published apps and up to 5 builders. Know the limits: the free Starter plan allows only Lite build with a daily cap, and its one published app goes offline after 30 days. Power and Max mode work is billed by effort, and usage beyond the monthly credits is pay-as-you-go.

What is Replit?

Replit is a browser-based development platform built around Agent, which turns a natural-language description into a working web or mobile app and publishes it. Projects come with a managed PostgreSQL database, file storage, authentication and hosting, so an app can go live without leaving the workspace. Agent has a no-cost Free Mode with plan-based limits, while the Power and Max modes are billed by effort from monthly credits.

Replit has a free plan. Paid plans start at $18 per month, billed annually; $20 billed monthly (Core). See every plan

Good for

  • People who want an app built, hosted and published in one place
  • Builders who expect to read or edit the code in a full cloud workspace
  • Small teams sharing one plan: Core covers 5 builders and Pro 15, with no per-user fee

Worth knowing

  • Starter is limited to Lite build with daily caps, and its single published app goes offline after 30 days.
  • Connectors, Plan Mode, full build and Replit AI Integrations all require Core or Pro.
  • Power and Max mode work is billed by effort from monthly credits, and usage beyond them is pay-as-you-go.
  • The mobile app is for building websites and web apps; native iOS app projects have to be started on the web.

Key features

Agent with Free, Power and Max modes
Agent builds, debugs and iterates on an app from chat. Free Mode costs no credits within a plan allowance; Power and Max use monthly credits and need Core or Pro.
Built-in database, storage and auth
Replit-managed integrations include a PostgreSQL database, App Storage for files, Replit Auth sign-in and custom domains, with no API keys to set up.
One-click publishing
Apps publish to a live URL from the workspace. Starter includes 1 published app for 30 days; Core and Pro allow unlimited apps and remove the Made with Replit badge.
Design Canvas and Visual Editor
Design Canvas explores visual ideas and variations, and the Visual Editor changes content and layout directly. Converting a design into a full app needs Core.
Connectors
Sign in once to services such as Google Drive, Gmail, GitHub, Linear and Jira, and Agent can read and write to them from chat. Most connectors need a paid plan.
Web, mobile and other artifacts
Agent builds web apps and native iOS and Android apps with Expo previews. Core and Pro add slide decks, data visualizations, animated videos and other artifact types.
