Eventbrite
Ticketing and event marketplace, with fees usually paid by buyers

Our verdict
Second of our top three event ticketing platforms
For: Organizers who want buyers to find them and to pay the fees
Eventbrite lists your event on its own marketplace, where buyers browse local events, with reserved seating, timed entry, email campaigns, social ad tools and payouts before the event. Publishing is free and free events carry no fees. On paid tickets buyers pay by default: 3.7% + $1.79 a ticket plus 2.9% processing per order, or $506 on 200 tickets at $20 before processing. Its Organizer app for iPhone and iPad averages 4.8 from about 32,600 ratings. It is second because its fee is about three times Ticket Tailor's, whoever pays it; its pricing plans cover only the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland, and more than 250 marketing emails a day needs Pro from $15 a month.

Best for getting found by buyers on a big marketplace
Eventbrite is the one most people have heard of, and that's the point: your event sits on a marketplace where buyers browse, with email and ad tools to push it further. Publishing is free and buyers pay the fees by default. Those fees are the steepest here, though, at 3.7% + $1.79 a ticket plus 2.9% processing.
Who Eventbrite is for
- Great if you want people browsing a marketplace to stumble on your event
- Good for free community events, which pay no fees at all
- Handy when you want email campaigns and social ads in the same place as tickets
Who Eventbrite is not for
- Pricey if your buyers balk at fees, as 3.7% + $1.79 a ticket plus processing is the most here
- Not for you if you email a big list, since free sends stop at 250 a day
Why Eventbrite gets a 3.0
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- CValue for moneyBuyers pay by default, so you keep the ticket price, but the fee is the dearest here: 3.7% + $1.79 a ticket is $506 on 200 $20 tickets, with 2.9% processing per order on top that we haven't counted. Absorb it and it's yours. More than 250 emails a day needs Pro from $15 a month.
- BFree plan and trialFree to publish as many events as you like, and free events carry no fees at all. The free account sends 250 marketing emails a day, and more needs Pro from $15 a month. A small series could run on it for good.
- BFeaturesMarketplace listing, ticket types, add-ons, waitlists, reserved seating, timed entry, email campaigns, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok promotion, a check-in app with Tap to Pay, and payouts before the event. It covers the whole job.
- AEase of use4.79 from 32,637 App Store ratings, and that's for the Eventbrite Organizer app, the one you use to run the door. Making an event is guided, with AI help to write it up.
- BPlatforms and integrationsWeb, iPhone and Android, with Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and a public API. No desktop app, which an A needs, and its pricing plans are offered only in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland.

Keep Eventbrite, or make your own?
Keep it
To replace Eventbrite you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $180 a year.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
- Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It plugs into other products, Mailchimp, Facebook and Instagram among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
