Our verdict

Third of our top three event ticketing platforms

For: Nonprofits that want to keep the whole ticket price

Zeffy sells tickets for nonprofits and takes nothing from them, not even card fees: 200 tickets at $20 pays out the full $4,000, in a weekly payout. Buyers are asked at checkout for an optional tip to Zeffy and can set it to zero. Ticket forms have group and members-only rates, add-ons and tax receipts, volunteers check people in from the app or a shared web page, and Tap to Pay takes card sales at the door, with donations, raffles and auctions alongside. It is third because only nonprofits can use it, and only in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Australia, with no seating charts or app integrations on record.

Zeffy report card

3.2GPA

Very good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 18, 2026

Best for nonprofits that want to keep every dollar

Zeffy is ticketing for nonprofits that costs the nonprofit nothing at all, not even card fees. A $40 ticket pays out $40, because Zeffy lives on optional tips that buyers can add or decline at checkout. Galas get raffles, auctions and donations in the same place. The catch: it's only for nonprofits, and only in five countries.

Who Zeffy is for

  • Great if you're a nonprofit and want the whole ticket price to reach you
  • Good for galas that mix tickets with raffles, auctions and donations
  • Handy when volunteers run the door from their own phones

Who Zeffy is not for

  • Not for you if you're a business or anything other than a nonprofit
  • Skip it if you'd rather your buyers weren't asked for a tip at checkout
  • Too light for seated theatre shows, with no seating charts on record

Why Zeffy gets a 3.2

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • AValue for moneyNothing for the nonprofit: no platform, ticket or card fees, so 200 tickets at $20 pays out the full $4,000. Buyers are asked for an optional tip to Zeffy and can set it to zero. Free and substantial, which is an A, though only nonprofits can have it.
  • AFree plan and trialOne free plan with every feature on it, and no cap a nonprofit would hit. The tip at checkout is the buyer's choice, not yours.
  • BFeaturesTicket forms with group and members-only rates, add-ons, tax receipts, QR check-in and Tap to Pay at the door, with donations, raffles, auctions and a donor database alongside. No reserved seating on record, but selling, the door and payouts are covered.
  • CEase of useNo App Store rating on record. You build ticket forms with types, dates and limits, and volunteers can check people in on the app or a shared web page.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsWeb, iPhone and Android, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. No API or app integrations on record and no desktop app, and it serves nonprofits only in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Australia.

Keep Zeffy, or make your own?

Keep it

Zeffy is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces. It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 10 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade.

What you could make

  • Forms: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
  • Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Zeffy’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
