Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.2

GPA, above 10 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade

Zeffy is a fundraising platform for nonprofits that covers event ticketing alongside donations, raffles, auctions, memberships and an online store, with a donor database underneath. Nonprofits pay nothing, not even card processing: Zeffy is funded by optional tips that buyers and donors can add at checkout. Tickets come with custom questions, QR check-in and a Tap to Pay phone app for sales at the door.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Zeffy, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Galas get raffles, auctions and donations in the same place.

The report card

Best for nonprofits that want to keep every dollar

Zeffy is ticketing for nonprofits that costs the nonprofit nothing at all, not even card fees. A $40 ticket pays out $40, because Zeffy lives on optional tips that buyers can add or decline at checkout. Galas get raffles, auctions and donations in the same place. The catch: it's only for nonprofits, and only in five countries.

ToolGPA report cardZeffyGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyANothing for the nonprofit: no platform, ticket or card fees, so 200 tickets at $20 pays out the full $4,000. Buyers are asked for an optional tip to Zeffy and can set it to zero. Free and substantial, which is an A, though only nonprofits can have it.
Free plan and trialAOne free plan with every feature on it, and no cap a nonprofit would hit. The tip at checkout is the buyer's choice, not yours.
FeaturesBTicket forms with group and members-only rates, add-ons, tax receipts, QR check-in and Tap to Pay at the door, with donations, raffles, auctions and a donor database alongside. No reserved seating on record, but selling, the door and payouts are covered.
Ease of useCNo App Store rating on record. You build ticket forms with types, dates and limits, and volunteers can check people in on the app or a shared web page.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. No API or app integrations on record and no desktop app, and it serves nonprofits only in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Australia.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

  • Not for you if you're a business or anything other than a nonprofit
  • Skip it if you'd rather your buyers weren't asked for a tip at checkout
  • Too light for seated theatre shows, with no seating charts on record

Good to know

Good for

  • Nonprofits, schools and charities running galas, concerts or walks
  • Groups that want to keep the full ticket price
  • Fundraisers that combine tickets, auctions, raffles and donations

Worth knowing

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

10/11

Other event ticketing platforms it is graded above

Zeffy's GPA of 3.2 is higher than 10 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade, and level with 1.

It stands best on value for money (A, above 10 of 11) and worst on ease of use (C, above 0).

Zeffy has no paid plan.

On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 2.7 out of 4, and no tool on the category's chart scores higher without costing more.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

Zeffy is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces. It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 10 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade.

What you could make

  • Forms: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
  • Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Zeffy’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
