Fresha review (2026): is it worth $19.95 a month?
Salon and spa booking with a consumer marketplace for new clients
Our verdict
Second of our top three salon, spa and studio booking apps
For: Salons that want new clients from a marketplace
Fresha runs the calendar, client records, point of sale, memberships, retail stock and team pay runs, and lists you on its own consumer marketplace. Independent is $19.95 a month for one bookable person and Team $14.95 a member, after a 7-day trial with no card, and its App Store app averages 4.8 from about 3,900 ratings. It is second because there is no free plan, each new marketplace client costs a one-time 20% commission of at least $6, five people pay $74.75 against Square's $49 a location, and extra texts, loyalty and review prompts cost more.

Keep Fresha, or make your own?
Keep it
To replace Fresha you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 14 of the 15 other salon, spa and studio booking apps we grade. It costs $239.40 a year.
What you could make
- Appointment booking, inventory and review collection: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
- A rota the whole staff sees on their phones, with swaps and alerts.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Facebook, Instagram and Klarna among them.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Fresha’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
