Redirect Path review (2026): is it any good?
Free Chrome extension that shows every redirect and status code

Good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 23, 2026
Best for redirects and status codes as you browse
Redirect Path flags 301, 302, 404 and 500 responses as you browse and shows the full redirect chain, meta and JavaScript redirects included, with each step's headers. That's one narrow job, on URLs one at a time and in Chrome only, and its optional AI button sends the chain to Ayima AI, whose answers its own licence warns can be wrong.
Who Redirect Path is for
- Fits if you're checking redirects during or after a site migration
- Works for reading a page's HTTP headers without opening developer tools
Who Redirect Path is not for
- Skip it if you're not on Chrome, as Ayima names no other browser
- Too light for checking a list of URLs, since it reports on pages you visit one at a time
- Watch out: Ask Ayima AI may pass the redirect data to third-party AI providers, and its answers can be wrong
- Not for you if you want anything beyond redirects and headers, like tags, headings or schema
Why Redirect Path gets a 2.8
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- AValue for moneyFree, and Ayima's licence says its extensions are free for personal and commercial use. No paid version is listed.
- AFree plan and trialFree outright: status flags, redirect chains, headers and the Ask Ayima AI button, with nothing to upgrade to.
- DFeaturesOne narrow function: status codes and redirect chains, server, meta refresh and JavaScript, with headers, server IP and an HSTS note. No tags, headings, links or search data, and no list of URLs to check in bulk.
- BEase of useNo rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: install it and the icon flags redirects on the next page you load.
- CPlatforms and integrationsChrome only, so computers only, with no Firefox, Safari or Edge version named and no integrations. The interface is English only.

Keep Redirect Path, or make your own?
Keep it
Redirect Path is free, so making your own would save you nothing.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 18 of the 34 other SEO browser extensions grade higher.
What you could not
- A crawler that checks every page of a site.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Redirect Path’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
What is Redirect Path?
Redirect Path is a free Chrome extension from the SEO agency Ayima that flags 301, 302, 404 and 500 responses and client-side meta and JavaScript redirects as you browse. Clicking it shows the full redirect chain with each step's HTTP headers, server type and IP address. Version 4.0 added an optional Ask Ayima AI button that sends the chain off for an automated explanation.
Worth knowing
- It is listed for Chrome only; Ayima names no Firefox, Safari or Edge version.
- It reports on URLs you visit one at a time and does not crawl a list of URLs.
- Ask Ayima AI may pass the redirect data to third-party AI providers, and the licence warns its answers can be wrong.
- The Chrome Web Store lists the interface in English only.
Key features
- Status code flags
- The toolbar icon flags 301, 302, 404 and 500 responses on the page you load, and adds a plus sign when there are several redirects.
- Client-side redirects
- Detects meta refresh and JavaScript redirects as well as server redirects, so the whole path to a page is shown.
- HTTP headers and server IP
- Shows the response headers for each step, such as server type and caching headers, along with the server's IP address.
- HSTS explanation
- Explains when a 307 is only Chrome's cached HSTS upgrade from http to https rather than a redirect set by the site.
- Ask Ayima AI
- An optional button sends the redirect chain's URLs, status codes and headers to Ayima AI for an analysis; nothing is sent unless you click it.
