The best habit tracker apps in 2026

Four habit trackers built on four different ideas of what keeps a habit going: reminders and data, an unbroken streak, a game or a goal. Each pick says who it suits, what it costs and where it stops.

Updated Oct 4, 2026 · 4 tools · How we pick

A habit tracker is a simple thing: a list of what you meant to do today and a record of whether you did it. The four apps here differ in what they add to keep you coming back. Habitify adds schedules, reminders and health data. Streaks adds a chain you will not want to break. Habitica turns your routine into a role-playing game, and Griply ties each habit to a goal.

They differ on the practical points too. Streaks runs only on Apple devices and is bought once for $5.99; the other three have free plans and run on Android and the web as well as iPhone. Those free plans are capped differently: Habitify allows 3 active habits and Griply 2, while Habitica's habits, dailies and to-dos are all free and its subscription adds in-game perks rather than task features.

The order below runs from the tracker that fits the most people to the ones built for a particular kind of person. Prices were read on the date shown on each tool's page, which also names the page each figure came from. The prices quoted for Habitify, Habitica and Streaks are from their US App Store listings.

The picks in detail

  1. 01

    Habitify

Best all-round habit trackerCross-platform habit tracker with health-data sync and an API

Habitify lays your habits out across the day with reminders, then shows how consistently you keep them through a calendar, streak counts and completion rates. It runs on iPhone, Android, Mac and the web with sync between them, and habits can be linked to data from Apple Health, Health Connect, Fitbit and Strava, with health app sync listed as a Pro feature. On the US App Store, Plus is $29.99 a year for unlimited habits and Pro is $49.99 a year.

Worth knowing: The free plan allows 3 active habits and 1 reminder per habit, and the vendor's web pricing page shows a different offer: a single Premium plan at $2.49 a month billed annually or $59.99 once.

Free plan; paid plans from $29.99 per year for Plus; Pro is $8.99 per month or $49.99 per year (App Store)

    Streaks

Best simple tracker for Apple devicesHabit tracker for Apple devices built around daily streaks

Streaks keeps the idea small: you pick up to 24 tasks, and each day you complete one its streak grows, while a missed day resets it to zero. Tasks linked to the Health app, such as steps or running distance, are marked complete automatically, and a task can be set for certain days so that days off do not break the chain. It is a single $5.99 purchase covering iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Apple Vision, with no in-app purchases listed.

Worth knowing: There is no Android, Windows or web version, the app tracks at most 24 tasks, and no free version or trial is listed.

    Habitica

Best if game rewards keep you goingHabit and task tracker that works like a role-playing game

Habitica treats your routine as a role-playing game: completing habits, dailies and to-dos earns gold, experience and items for an avatar, and missed tasks cost health points. Friends can form a Party to keep each other accountable and take on Quests together. The tracker itself is free on the web, iOS and Android, and the code is open source.

Worth knowing: No desktop apps are listed, the subscription from $4.99 a month adds in-game perks rather than task features, and assigning tasks to other people needs a Group Plan from $9 a month.

    Price
Free plan; paid plans from $4.99 per month, or $47.99 for 12 months (App Store prices)
    Runs on
    Web, iOS, Android

    Griply

Best for habits tied to goalsGoal planner that links goals to habits, tasks and time blocks

Griply starts from goals rather than habits: you file goals under life areas, attach the habits, tasks and projects that move each one forward, and measure progress with success metrics. That makes it the pick when a streak alone does not tell you whether you are getting anywhere. It is the only one of the four with a Windows app, alongside web, Mac, iOS and Android, and Premium is $2.49 a month billed yearly ($29.99), or $89.99 once for the Lifetime plan.

Worth knowing: The free plan stops at 2 goals and 2 habits, the Android app is a public beta, and the pricing page says prices go up on Oct 12, so these figures may change soon.

How to choose

Start with your devices

Streaks is for Apple devices only: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. Habitify, Habitica and Griply all have Android apps and a web version, though Griply describes its Android app as a public beta. For a desktop app, Habitify and Streaks cover the Mac, and Griply covers Mac and Windows. Habitica lists no desktop apps, only its website and phone apps.

Decide what will keep you going

Pick the mechanism you respond to. Streaks relies on the chain itself: miss a day and the count resets to zero. Habitica rewards finished tasks with gold and gear and takes health points for missed ones. Griply connects each habit to the goal it supports. Habitify sticks to reminders, streak counts and completion rates, and adds habit challenges with friends.

Look at what the free version covers

Habitica's habits, dailies and to-dos are free, and its subscription adds in-game perks. Habitify's free plan allows 3 active habits with 1 reminder each, and Griply's allows 2 habits and 2 goals with unlimited tasks. Streaks has no free version or trial: it is a $5.99 download.

Subscribe, or pay once?

Streaks is a one-time $5.99 purchase. Griply sells a Lifetime plan at $89.99 next to its $29.99 yearly Premium, and Habitify lists Pro Lifetime at $119.99 on the US App Store next to Pro at $49.99 a year. Habitica lists no lifetime option: its subscription starts at $4.99 a month, or $47.99 for 12 months. Students with a school email get 50% off the first year of Habitify Pro Annual.
