Value for money
BiPhone is $9.99, iPad $19.99 and Mac $49.99, each bought once and each sold separately. Phone and Mac together is a bit more than a year of a typical to-do subscription. The Mac licence covers 18 months of updates, then renewing is 20% off.
A$4.99 once, with Family Sharing and no in-app purchases listed. Paid to-do apps typically start around $3.99 a month, so the whole app costs about what one month does elsewhere. The web app is described as free on top.
Free plan and trial
BOnly Android has a free version, and it never expires. But sync, backups, alert notifications and Markdown notes there are a 14-day trial, then a one-time unlock. The Mac app has a 14-day trial too. The iPhone and iPad apps are paid up front.
FNothing is free. There's no free version and no trial, so the $4.99 comes before you've seen a single screen. It's a small bet, but it's still a bet.
Features
AA task can grow into a checklist, then a project with sub-tasks. Type "call mum friday 6pm" and the date fills itself in. Saved searches become Smart Lists, alarms can nag until you deal with them, and the Mac app takes scripts.
BPages holding lists and sub-tasks, repeats as fussy as the third Sunday of the month, reminders, templates and shared pages. Solid basics. But creating tasks by email is marked deprecated, and Apple Calendar is the only thing it hooks into.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. You install it and start typing. Sync takes one extra step, because you pick the service yourself.
BIt's an app you install and use: one Add button takes a task or a whole list, with the due date, alert and notes on the same screen. There's no rating on record to go by, so it stops at a B.
Platforms and integrations
AMac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android, syncing through Dropbox, iCloud, Fastmail, Fruux or any CalDAV server. The Mac app has an MCP server, AppleScript and Shortcuts. No Windows or web version, mind.
BiPhone and iPad, plus a web app at my-priorities.com so your lists open in any browser, and due dates sync to Apple Calendar. But there's no Android or Windows app, and the Mac option is just the iPad app, not verified for macOS.

Who each one suits

2Do

  • People who want a one-time purchase instead of a subscription
  • Users who prefer to sync through Dropbox, iCloud or their own CalDAV server
  • GTD-style setups built on an inbox, tags and saved searches

Priorities

  • iPhone and iPad users who prefer to pay once for a to-do app
  • Sharing a shopping or chore list with another person
  • Reusing the same list as a template, such as for travel

Worth knowing

2Do

  • The Mac, iPhone and iPad apps are separate purchases at $49.99, $9.99 and $19.99.
  • The Mac license covers 18 months of updates; newer versions then require a renewal, while the last covered version keeps working.
  • Apps are listed for macOS, iPhone, iPad and Android only; there is no Windows or web version.
  • On Android, sync, backups, alert notifications and Markdown notes need a one-time in-app purchase after a 14-day trial.

Priorities

  • No Android, Windows or native Mac app: the App Store lists iPhone and iPad, and marks the Mac option as the iPad app, not verified for macOS.
  • There is no free version or trial; the app is a $4.99 purchase.
  • Priorities Online needs a Priorities Cloud sync account, which the support page says is created inside the iOS app.
  • The support page marks creating tasks by email as deprecated, with an end date of 12/31/2020.

Key features

2Do

Tasks, checklists and projects
A simple task can be turned into a checklist and then into a project with sub-tasks. Color-coded lists and List Groups keep related work together.
Natural language entry
Dates, times, repeats, alerts, durations, priority, tags, lists and saved places typed into a task title are filled into their own fields, in ten languages.
Smart Lists, tags and Focus
Searches across titles, tags, notes and dates can be saved as Smart Lists. Tags can be grouped or paused to hide their tasks, and Focus narrows a list to chosen conditions.
Sync through a service you choose
Devices sync through Dropbox, iCloud, Apple Reminders, Todoist, Toodledo, Fastmail, Fruux or another CalDAV server. A list can also be shared with people nearby over Wi-Fi.
Alarms and Nearby
A task can carry several alerts, including alarms that repeat until they are dealt with. Location-tagged tasks show up in a Nearby panel when you are close by.
Automation on the Mac
The Mac app includes an MCP server for Claude and other agents, along with AppleScript, Apple Shortcuts and URL schemes. Email sent to a private address becomes a task.

Priorities

Pages, lists and sub-tasks
Color-coded pages separate areas of life. Each page holds lists with sub-items and tasks with sub-tasks, and pages are reviewed by tapping or swiping.
Fast Add
A single button adds tasks or whole lists of items, and alerts, due dates, due times and notes can be set from the same Add screen.
Repeating tasks
Tasks can repeat every day, every few days, on a weekday, on a pattern such as the third Sunday of the month, or a set time after the current one is completed.
Starred items and reminders
Starred items collect on the Priorities page and set the badge count on the app icon. A reminder time triggers a popup, a sound alert or both.
Priorities Cloud and page sharing
A sync account backs data up to the vendor's server, syncs iOS devices, shares chosen pages with other users and opens tasks in the Priorities Online web app.
Templates and calendar integration
A page can be saved as a template for reuse, such as a grocery or travel list, and tasks with due dates sync to the device's calendar.
