Who each one suits

750 Words

  • People building a habit of free writing every day
  • Writers who want a private page with no audience, titles or tags
  • Anyone who is motivated by streaks and points

Dabble Me

  • People who would sooner reply to an email than open a journaling app
  • Rereading old entries, which come back inside the prompt emails
  • Journal keepers who want to query their entries from Claude or ChatGPT

Worth knowing

750 Words

  • Prices and trial terms could not be confirmed: every page except the home page refused automated readers when checked.
  • The feature details come from the vendor's original site; sign-ups now go to a newer version of the app, which may differ.
  • It is built for one private stream of daily writing: the original site says entries have no titles, tags or comments.
  • It runs in a web browser, and the pages that could be read mention no mobile or desktop app.

Dabble Me

  • There is no mobile or desktop app: you write by replying to an email or in a web browser.
  • Free accounts get a prompt only every other Sunday; daily prompts, photos, search, the calendar view and the web editor need PRO.
  • Entries are not end-to-end encrypted: the privacy policy notes that email content passes through email providers in transit.
  • Entries an AI assistant reads through the connector are sent to that assistant's provider for processing.

Key features

750 Words

A daily 750-word target
Three standard pages at 250 words each come to 750 words, the amount the site asks you to write each day, following the morning pages exercise.
Private by design
The original site describes the writing as all online and private. It is not blogging: entries are not titled, tagged or opened to comments.
Live word count and autosave
The page counts words as you write and tells you when you pass 750. It scrolls as you type, like a typewriter, and saves your writing as you go.
Points and streaks
Each month starts from zero. Writing anything earns 1 point, 750 words or more earns 2, and consecutive days earn more. You can see how other writers are scoring.
Writing statistics
Each day's writing produces stats, such as how fast you wrote and how often you were distracted, plus an analysis of the feelings, themes and mindset in the words.

Dabble Me

Journaling by email reply
A prompt arrives in your inbox and your reply becomes that day's entry. Several replies on one day are added to the same entry, and a date in the subject line files it elsewhere.
Blasts from the past
Each prompt email carries an entry you wrote on an earlier date, so old entries come back without you looking for them. This is part of the free plan.
Custom schedule
PRO members choose the days and times prompts arrive, from daily to weekly. Free accounts get a prompt every other Sunday.
Photos, hashtags and search
PRO adds up to 8 photos per entry, sent as email attachments or added on the web, plus a calendar view and search across entries and #hashtags.
Web editor and importers
PRO members can write or edit an entry for any date on the website with rich text, and import journals from OhLife, Day One, Ahhlife and Trailmix.life.
AI connector over MCP
A remote MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT and other compatible clients search, list, analyze and add entries after you approve access. It needs PRO and a passkey or two-factor login.
