How we grade them
| 2.4GPAAnyDeskFair | 2.8GPAGetscreen.meGood | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | CNo price could be read: AnyDesk's website answered our reader with a bot check, and its help centre sends buyers to the pricing page. With no figure to set against TeamViewer or Splashtop for the same job, it gets the C we give any missing price. Personal use is free; work use needs a licence. | BAdvanced, the first plan with one-off Quick Support sessions for clients, is $6.67 per technician a month billed annually, plus $1.50 a year for each permanent device. For the same job that's less than Zoho Assist, Splashtop or TeamViewer charge one technician. Only RustDesk's free client undercuts it. |
| Free plan and trial | CFree for personal, non-commercial use, which covers reaching your own computers. But free sessions time out and have to be restarted, and any outgoing connection for work needs a paid licence. No trial is on record. | BThe free plan never runs out: one technician, 2 devices, no limit on session time, multi-monitor and chat. That's enough to reach two of your own computers for good. Supporting clients is where it stops, as Quick Support isn't included, though there's a 14-day business trial. |
| Features | CAttended and unattended access, remote printing, Wake-on-LAN, screen privacy, a management portal and an on-premises server with a REST API. The gaps it lists itself: Standard allows one outgoing connection at a time, and self-hosting is Ultimate only, quoted by sales. | CPermanent access with Wake-on-LAN, Quick Support by link, terminal mode, a file manager, branding and an HTTP API. The gaps it lists itself: there's no iPhone or iPad agent, so those can only connect through a browser, and Standard leaves out Quick Support. |
| Ease of use | B4.49 from 28,268 App Store ratings, which is a B on a crowd that size. The person at the other end accepts your request and you're connected. | BNo App Store rating on record. You work from a browser tab with nothing to install on your end, and a client joins a session from an invitation link or code, so there's very little to set up. |
| Platforms and integrations | BWindows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi, ChromeOS, iPhone, iPad, Android and Apple TV. That's a lot of devices, but there's no web app or integration list, and the REST API comes only with the on-premises server. | BWeb, Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and a Chrome extension, plus an HTTP API and plugins for Telegram, LiveChat and Jira Service Desk. No iPhone or iPad app, which keeps it off an A. |
| Best for | remote access on nearly any device you own | browser-based IT support on a small budget |

Worth knowing
AnyDesk
- AnyDesk's website answered automated readers with a bot check, so no prices could be read; its help center sends buyers to the pricing page or the my.anydesk portal for figures.
- The free version is for personal use only; any outgoing connection for commercial use needs a paid licence.
- Standard includes 20 users but only one simultaneous outgoing connection; more are add-ons.
- On-premises hosting is only on the Ultimate licence, which is quoted by sales.
Getscreen.me
- Paid plans charge per device on top of each technician seat, so the bill grows with the number of computers you keep permanent access to.
- The Standard plan does not include Quick Support for one-off client sessions; that needs Advanced or above.
- The self-hosted server is sold only on the Enterprise plan with annual billing, with a minimum of 500 devices or 10 technicians.
- There is an Android agent but no iOS agent is listed; iPhones and iPads can connect only through a browser.
Key features
AnyDesk
- Interactive and unattended access
- Connect to any number of devices when the person there accepts the request, or to managed devices without anyone present using a password: up to 100 on Solo and 1,000 on Advanced.
- Wide platform coverage
- Clients for Windows and Windows Server, macOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi, Android and ChromeOS, and iOS, iPadOS and tvOS.
- Remote print and Wake-on-LAN
- Print a document from a remote Windows computer on your local printer, and wake a sleeping Windows, Intel Mac or Linux device when another AnyDesk device on its network is online.
- Screen privacy
- Black out the remote screen so people near the device cannot see what you are doing during a session.
- my.anydesk portal
- A management portal to see licence and invoice details, manage linked clients and address books, review sessions and build custom clients.
- On-premises server
- The Ultimate licence can run on your own appliance server, so only your custom clients can connect, even without internet access, with a REST API for integration.
Getscreen.me
- Permanent access
- Install the agent on a computer once and reach it later from any browser without anyone at the other end, with Wake-on-LAN, reboot during a session and black screen mode.
- Quick Support
- Send a client an invitation link or code for a one-off session, without sharing passwords. Unlimited on Advanced and Enterprise; the lifetime licence allows 10 invitations a day.
- Terminal mode and file manager
- Run commands and scripts on a remote machine without interrupting the person using it, and browse, upload and download its files during a session.
- Shareable device links
- Give a colleague or client access to a device through a public link, and invite others into a joint session with voice calls and chat.
- Branding and team controls
- Higher plans add your own logo, name and subdomain, access rights by device group, departments for technicians, single sign-on and Active Directory import.
- HTTP API and plugins
- An HTTP API for building remote access into other products, plus official plugins for Telegram, LiveChat and Jira Service Desk.
