Netlify vs Replit
We give Netlify a 2.8 GPA and Replit a 3.0, out of 4.0. Netlify grades higher on value for money and the free plan. Replit grades higher on ease of use and platforms. They get the same grade on features.

How we grade them
| 2.8GPANetlifyGood | 3.0GPAReplitVery good | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BGraded against its own alternatives, since it hosts sites built elsewhere: Personal is $9 a month with no intro price to expire, so the second year costs what the first did. That's under Cloudways' $11 and far under Kinsta's $30. Extra credits are $5 for 500, and a team needs Pro at $20. | CCore is $18 a month billed annually, $20 monthly, landing mid-table against the $19 middle for builders here. It's a fair bundle: $20 of monthly credits, unlimited published apps and up to 5 builders on the one plan. But Power and Max work is billed by effort, and past your credits it's pay-as-you-go. |
| Free plan and trial | BA real free plan: custom domains with SSL, functions, a database and unlimited deploy previews, with 300 credits a month. A small personal site fits. A busy one doesn't, and it pauses when the credits run out rather than billing you. | CStarter costs nothing and gives you Agent chat, Free Mode and Lite build. The caps arrive quickly though: a daily limit, no connectors, no Plan Mode, and the single published app comes down after 30 days. Fine for a look, no use for keeping something live. |
| Features | BAgainst its own alternatives it covers the whole job: deploys from Git, the command line, a folder or an AI agent, preview links with feedback, rollbacks, functions, Postgres, file storage, forms and user sign-ups. Just know it's for sites built in code. | BIt covers the whole job and a bit beyond: Agent builds, debugs and reworks from chat, with a PostgreSQL database, file storage, sign-in and custom domains built in and no API keys to set up, one-click publishing, and native iOS and Android apps as well as web. Lovable covers the core too, so no A. |
| Ease of use | CNo store rating on record. Dropping a folder in works, but most of it assumes you build sites in code and push them from Git, and credits are one more thing to keep an eye on. | A4.7 from about 21,100 App Store ratings, which is a lot of people agreeing. You describe the app and Agent builds it, with the database and hosting already sorted, so there's nothing to wire up before you see something working. |
| Platforms and integrations | BA web dashboard with no app on record, plus a command-line tool. It hooks into GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Slack, and AI agents such as Claude, Codex, Gemini and Cursor can ship code through it. | AEverything: web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. Connectors reach Google Drive, Gmail, GitHub, GitLab, Linear, Jira and Stripe, though most need a paid plan. One gap — the mobile app builds websites and web apps, and a native iOS project has to be started on the web. |
| Best for | hosting sites you build in code and push from Git | building, hosting and publishing in one place |

Who each one suits
Netlify
- Developers deploying front-end frameworks and static sites from Git
- Teams that want a preview link on every pull request
- Side projects small enough to fit in 300 free credits a month
- Non-commercial open source projects, through the free Open Source plan
Replit
- People who want an app built, hosted and published in one place
- Builders who expect to read or edit the code in a full cloud workspace
- Small teams sharing one plan: Core covers 5 builders and Pro 15, with no per-user fee
Worth knowing
Netlify
- Deploys, bandwidth, compute and requests all draw on monthly credits: 15 per production deploy and 20 per GB of bandwidth.
- When an account's credits run out its sites pause until the next cycle, unless auto recharge ($5 for 500 on Personal, $10 for 1,500 on Pro) is turned on.
- Free and Personal allow one member; private organization repos and shared env variables start at Pro, and extra concurrent builds are $40 a month.
- SSO, SCIM, a 99.99% uptime SLA, log drains and 24/7 support are on the Enterprise plan only.
Replit
- Starter is limited to Lite build with daily caps, and its single published app goes offline after 30 days.
- Connectors, Plan Mode, full build and Replit AI Integrations all require Core or Pro.
- Power and Max mode work is billed by effort from monthly credits, and usage beyond them is pay-as-you-go.
- The mobile app is for building websites and web apps; native iOS app projects have to be started on the web.
Key features
Netlify
- Deploy from Git, CLI, AI or a folder
- Projects deploy on every push from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, from the Netlify CLI, by drag and drop, or from an AI agent, with one-click rollbacks.
- Deploy Previews
- Every pull request and branch gets its own preview URL where reviewers can leave visual feedback, and new projects stay private until you publish them.
- Agent Runners
- AI agents such as Claude, Codex and Gemini can be asked to fix, update and ship code from the dashboard, with 1 to 50 concurrent runs by plan.
- Functions, database and storage
- Serverless and edge functions, Netlify Database (a managed Postgres database) and blob storage for files and images run beside the site.
- AI Gateway
- Calls major AI models without managing your own API keys, billed through credits at 180 credits per $1 of model cost.
- Forms, identity and image CDN
- Collects form submissions without a backend, signs up and authenticates site users, and resizes and serves images on demand.
Replit
- Agent with Free, Power and Max modes
- Agent builds, debugs and iterates on an app from chat. Free Mode costs no credits within a plan allowance; Power and Max use monthly credits and need Core or Pro.
- Built-in database, storage and auth
- Replit-managed integrations include a PostgreSQL database, App Storage for files, Replit Auth sign-in and custom domains, with no API keys to set up.
- One-click publishing
- Apps publish to a live URL from the workspace. Starter includes 1 published app for 30 days; Core and Pro allow unlimited apps and remove the Made with Replit badge.
- Design Canvas and Visual Editor
- Design Canvas explores visual ideas and variations, and the Visual Editor changes content and layout directly. Converting a design into a full app needs Core.
- Connectors
- Sign in once to services such as Google Drive, Gmail, GitHub, Linear and Jira, and Agent can read and write to them from chat. Most connectors need a paid plan.
- Web, mobile and other artifacts
- Agent builds web apps and native iOS and Android apps with Expo previews. Core and Pro add slide decks, data visualizations, animated videos and other artifact types.
