Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 48 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Amazing Marvin is a personal task manager built from more than 100 optional features that are switched on to suit a workflow, including day planning, time blocking, a Pomodoro timer, time tracking and habit tracking. The vendor describes it as designed for ADHD minds and for people who procrastinate. It is sold as a single paid subscription with a 14-day trial and has no free plan.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Amazing Marvin, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The vendor hands you four different workflows to pick between before you've typed a task.

The report card

Best for building a task manager around how you work

Marvin is a to-do app you build yourself: more than 100 features you switch on or off, from time blocking to a Pomodoro timer to habit streaks, on every platform including Linux. But there's no free plan, it's $8 a month only if you pay $96 for a year and $12 monthly, there's no iPad app, and 100 switches is a lot to set up. Anyone who wants one simple list should look elsewhere.

ToolGPA report cardAmazing MarvinGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyD$8 a month billed yearly ($96), $12 if you pay monthly. The middle of this category is $3.99, so you're paying double on yearly billing and sitting in the dearest tenth on monthly. Everything's on that one plan.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan at all. You get 14 days with everything switched on and no card needed, and when it ends you can't add or complete tasks until you subscribe.
FeaturesAOver 100 features you switch on or off, covering the whole job. The capacity estimator is what other apps here lack: put time estimates on today's tasks and it tells you when the plan won't fit. Super Focus Mode shows one task at a time, and most of it works offline, though time tracking needs a connection.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and 100 switches is a lot to meet on day one. The vendor hands you four different workflows to pick between before you've typed a task.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, plus Google Calendar, Zapier and an API documented on GitHub. Only gap is a dedicated iPad app, so tablets get the web version.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Amazing Marvin is for

  • Fits if other to-do apps felt like someone else's system and you'll spend time setting one up
  • Works for Linux users who want a desktop app that syncs to their phone

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you want a free plan, as there's only a 14-day trial and then you can't add or complete tasks
  • Pricey if you want one simple list, at $96 a year, or $12 a month billed monthly
  • Skip it if you want to open an app and just type, because there's setting up to do first
  • Watch out: there's no iPad app, so tablets get the web version, and time tracking needs an internet connection
  • Tight if you rely on Zapier, as the Zapier integration can only create tasks in Marvin

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want to shape a task manager around their own workflow
  • People who struggle with procrastination or feel overwhelmed by long lists
  • Planning a day with time estimates and time blocks
  • Linux users who want a desktop app

Worth knowing

  • There is no free plan; when the 14-day trial ends, tasks cannot be added or completed until you subscribe.
  • Monthly billing is $12; the $8 price applies only when paying $96 for a year.
  • There are no dedicated iPad apps; the vendor says tablets can use the web app.
  • Time tracking needs an internet connection, and the Zapier integration can only create tasks in Marvin.
