Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.8
GPA, above 0 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade
Anything is an AI agent that builds mobile apps and web apps from a chat description, covering design, backend, database, sign-in, payments and hosting. Mobile apps can be submitted to the App Store and Google Play, and web apps publish to an Anything address or a custom domain. Building requires a paid plan: there is no free tier for generating an app, and usage is metered in monthly credits.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Anything, taken from its own pages and our grades.
It's aimed at people who want a subscription app in the App Store without hiring anyone.
- 1
Best for phone apps with payments and a backend built in
Anything builds the whole app from a chat: the design, the backend, the database, sign-in and payments, for iPhone, Android or the web.
- 2
Paid plans start at $19 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $19 per month, billed annually ($228); $24 billed monthly (Pro).
- 3
It runs on Web
Web.
- 4
Agent with selectable modes
Build by chatting with an agent that has Auto, Discussion, Plan, Thinking and Fast modes. Each mode uses a different amount of credits.
- 5
Mobile and web apps
The same agent builds iOS and Android apps for the app stores as well as web apps and websites. Mobile projects are previewed on a phone through Expo Go.
- 6
Built-in backend
Every project ships with a backend for functions and API routes, a PostgreSQL database, user accounts with sign-up and login, and file uploads.
- 7
A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 26
That is against the other AI app builders we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 8
Keep it
To replace Anything you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for phone apps with payments and a backend built in
Anything builds the whole app from a chat: the design, the backend, the database, sign-in and payments, for iPhone, Android or the web. It's aimed at people who want a subscription app in the App Store without hiring anyone. But there's no free plan, no trial and no refund on subscriptions, so your first screen costs at least $24, and Google Play publishing is still in beta.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Pro is $19 a month billed annually, $24 monthly, which is exactly the middle of what builders here charge, and it covers 20K credits, custom domains, App Store submission and payments. The agent that tests and fixes its own work is Max, from $199. Worth knowing: subscriptions aren't refunded. |
| Free plan and trial | F | Nothing is free. A paid plan is required before your first app is generated, and there's no trial of any kind. Subscriptions aren't refunded and annual payments are non-refundable; credit refunds cover failed generations only. You pay to find out. |
| Features | C | One agent builds iOS and Android apps for the stores and web apps too, each with a backend, a PostgreSQL database, logins and file uploads, and Stripe or RevenueCat from a prompt. But the docs name the gaps: Google Play publishing is still in beta, and some built-in integrations may be temporarily unavailable. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record. You describe the app in chat and Expo Go previews it on your phone, but you're picking between Auto, Discussion, Plan, Thinking and Fast modes that each spend credits differently, then finding your way through TestFlight to ship. That's a curve. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | You build in the browser, with no desktop or phone app listed for building. What comes out runs on iPhone, Android and the web, and the code can be downloaded. It works with Stripe, RevenueCat, Expo Go, TestFlight, Google AdMob and Google AdSense. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Anything is for
- Fits if you can't code and want a mobile app with payments and a backend from one tool
- Works for founders launching a subscription app on the App Store
Who it is not for
- Not for you if you want to try before you pay, as there's no free plan and no trial
- Watch out: subscriptions aren't refunded and annual payments are non-refundable; only failed generations get credits back
- Pricey if you want Max mode, parallel agents or automated testing, since that plan starts at $199 a month billed annually
- Skip it if Android is your main target, because Google Play publishing is still in beta
- Watch out: the docs warn that some built-in integrations may be temporarily unavailable
Good to know
Good for
- Non-developers who want a mobile app with payments and a backend in one tool
- Founders launching subscription apps on the App Store
- Builders willing to pay more for an agent that tests and fixes its own work
Worth knowing
- There is no free plan for building: a paid subscription is required before the first app is generated.
- Subscriptions are not refunded and annual payments are non-refundable; credit refunds cover failed generations only.
- Max mode, parallel agents and automated testing need a Max plan, from $199 a month billed annually.
- Google Play publishing is in beta, and the docs warn that some built-in integrations may be temporarily unavailable.

- Max mode
- On Max plans the agent works autonomously: it builds, opens the app in a real browser, tests it like a user and fixes problems, with several agents in parallel.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Anything you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 26 of the 26 other AI app builders grade higher. It costs $228 a year.
What you could not
- A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
- Several people working in it at the same moment.
- It plugs into other products, Stripe, RevenueCat and ChatGPT among them.
What this rests on. Anything’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
