Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.0
GPA, above 13 of the 50 other link building tools we grade
Backlyzer watches backlinks you have already bought or earned and emails you when one changes: a switch from dofollow to nofollow, sponsored or UGC, an edited anchor or an article that returns a 404. Higher plans check whether the linking articles are indexed in Google and follow brand mentions that carry no link. It also works out the cost and survival rate of links by provider. Prices are in euros.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Backlyzer, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You set up projects and import links by CSV, and its own pages give different check frequencies for the same plan.
- 1
Best for tracking bought links and what they cost
Backlyzer watches backlinks you've bought or earned, emails you when one changes, and tracks each link's cost and survival by seller, from €24 a month on yearly billing.
- 2
Paid plans start at about $26.89 a month
As its pricing page puts it: €24 per month for 100 links, billed annually (€29 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
10 monitored links in 1 project, checked every 7 days, with email alerts, CSV import and a basic analytics panel.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Link change detection
Revisits each article holding your link and checks the link's status, rel attribute, anchor text and the page's HTTP status code.
- 6
Email alerts
Sends an email when a change is found, such as a dofollow link turned nofollow or an article that now returns a 404.
- 7
Google index check
On Pro and Agency, checks whether the articles that carry your backlinks are indexed in Google.
- 8
A 2.0 GPA, above 13 of 50
That is against the other link building tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

Keep it
To replace Backlyzer you would be making an index of the links between billions of web pages. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for tracking bought links and what they cost
Backlyzer watches backlinks you've bought or earned, emails you when one changes, and tracks each link's cost and survival by seller, from €24 a month on yearly billing. That buys only 100 links, it won't discover links, Google index checks wait on Pro at €66, and its pages disagree on how often Starter checks.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Starter is €24 a month billed yearly (€29 monthly) for 100 links and 3 projects, in the middle band of this category once converted. 100 links is thin for the money, and Google index checks need Pro at €66. |
| Free plan and trial | C | A free plan for 10 links in 1 project, checked every 7 days, plus a 14-day trial of every paid plan with no card. 10 links is a sample, not a site. |
| Features | C | Change alerts for status, rel, anchor and 404s, cost and return per link and per seller, and on Pro, index checks and unlinked brand mentions. It does monitoring fully, but it won't discover links: you add them. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record. You set up projects and import links by CSV, and its own pages give different check frequencies for the same plan. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Web only, with no apps, integrations or API on record. Prices are in euros only. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Backlyzer is for
- Fits if you buy links from several sellers and want to compare how long they last
- Works for European agencies that pay in euros
Who it is not for
- Tight if you have many links, as Starter stops at 100 and the free plan at 10
- Skip it if you want backlinks discovered for you, as it only monitors links you add
- Pricey if you need index checks or brand mentions, as both start at Pro for €66 a month
- Watch out: its pages give Starter's check as every 72 hours in one place and every 7 days in another
- Not for you if you pay in dollars, as prices are in euros only
Good to know
Good for
- SEO consultants and agencies that buy links from publishers
- Tracking which link sellers' placements last and what they cost
- Spanish and other European agencies paying in euros
Worth knowing
- Prices are in euros only; the pricing pages show no dollar prices.
- It monitors links you add; it does not discover a site's backlinks the way Ahrefs or Semrush do.
- Google index checks and brand mentions start at Pro; the Free and Starter plans lack both.
- Check frequencies differ between pages (Starter every 72 hours or every 7 days), so confirm before relying on them.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Backlyzer you would be making an index of the links between billions of web pages. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 25 of the 50 other link building tools grade higher. It costs $322.73 a year.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- An index of the links between billions of web pages.
What this rests on. Backlyzer’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
