Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.8
GPA, above 0 of the 24 other presentation tools we grade
Beautiful.ai is browser-based presentation software built around Smart Slides, layouts that realign, resize and animate content as it is added. An AI workflow turns a prompt, outline or source material into a deck, with an outline to approve before the slides are generated. There is no permanent free plan: Pro and Team each start with a 14-day trial.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Beautiful.ai, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No App Store rating on record, and the work is still yours: build the deck, pick a theme, set up the brand.
- 1
Best for slides that tidy themselves as you type
Beautiful.ai is a browser presentation app whose Smart Slides line everything up for you: add a fourth bullet or a bigger chart and the layout sorts itself out.
- 2
Paid plans start at $14.50 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $14.50 per month, billed annually (Pro).
- 3
You can try it first
14-day free trial of Pro or Team; a credit card is required and is charged when the trial ends.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Smart Slides
More than 300 layouts for data, comparisons, quotes, timelines and image grids that keep spacing, alignment and hierarchy in order as content changes.
- 6
AI deck generation
Start from a topic, a pasted outline or source files and links, refine the slide-by-slide outline, then choose a theme and image style before the slides are generated.
- 7
Brand controls
Brand colors, fonts and logos are defined once in a custom theme and applied to every slide. Enterprise adds configurable brand guardrails.
- 8
A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 24
That is against the other presentation tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9

The report card
Best for slides that tidy themselves as you type
Beautiful.ai is a browser presentation app whose Smart Slides line everything up for you: add a fourth bullet or a bigger chart and the layout sorts itself out. But there's no free plan, the 14-day trial wants your card and charges it at the end, Pro is $14.50 a month only if you pay for the year and $45 if you don't, and the pricing page contradicts itself on what Team costs.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | The only one-person plan is Pro at $14.50 a month billed annually, against a $9.99 middle and a $12.99 dear quarter for presentation tools. Pay monthly and it's $45. Team is $40 a month billed annually, and the pricing page can't agree whether that covers 3 users or 1. |
| Free plan and trial | D | No permanent free plan. The 14-day trial of Pro or Team needs a credit card, and the card is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel in time. Students with a verified .edu email do get a year of Pro free. |
| Features | C | Smart Slides: 300-plus layouts that keep spacing and alignment in order, AI that drafts a deck from your files with an outline to approve first, brand themes, viewer analytics and PowerPoint export. But it's browser-only, and its answer for presenting offline is to export a file. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record, and the work is still yours: build the deck, pick a theme, set up the brand. The layouts do the lining-up, which is the whole pitch for people who can't design, but nothing here gets you going faster than its rivals do. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | A browser app with no phone or desktop version. It connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox, Smartsheet and Airtable, and an add-in brings the layout engine into PowerPoint itself. Offline means exporting a PDF or PowerPoint file. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Beautiful.ai is for
- Fits if you have no design skills and want slides that format themselves
- Works for teams that need every deck in the same colors, fonts and logo
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want to try before handing over a card, as the trial needs one and charges it at the end
- Pricey if you pay monthly, at $45 for Pro against $14.50 on annual billing
- Not for you if you present without internet, because it's browser only and offline means an export
- Watch out: Team's $40 covers 3 users on the plan card but is per user in the FAQ on the same page
- Pricey if your company wants everyone on it, as the flat plans are $6,000 a year for 50 staff and $12,000 for 100
Good to know
Good for
- People without design skills who want slides that format themselves
- Teams that need every deck to follow the same colors, fonts and logos
- Students: a verified .edu email gets Pro free for the first year
Worth knowing
- There is no permanent free plan; the 14-day trial needs a credit card, which is charged unless the trial is canceled in time.
- Paying monthly costs far more for one person: Pro is $45 a month billed monthly against $14.50 a month billed annually.
- The pricing page is inconsistent on Team: the plan card shows $40 a month including 3 users, while its FAQ states $40 per user per month.
- It is a browser-based app; for offline use Beautiful.ai points to exporting a deck as a PDF or PowerPoint file.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Beautiful.ai you could make: templates. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 22 of the 24 other presentation tools grade higher. It costs $174 a year.
What you could make
- Templates: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A slide editor.
- Several people working in it at the same moment.
- It plugs into other products, Claude, ChatGPT and Slack among them.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Beautiful.ai’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
