Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 45 of the 52 other screen recording and video tools we grade

Cursorful is a screen recorder that follows clicks and cursor movement and adds zooms and pans to the recording on its own. A free Chrome extension records the browser, and paid desktop apps for macOS and Windows record any app and redraw the cursor. Both open the same editor, which renders video on the user's device and uploads nothing unless cloud sharing is switched on. Pro is a one-time payment per seat.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Cursorful, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Firefox isn't supported, the Mac app needs Apple silicon, and beyond the zooms there's little editing.
From our report card of Cursorful
  1. 1

Best for screen recordings that zoom in by themselves

Cursorful records your screen and adds zooms and pans wherever you click, and its Chrome extension is free with no sign-up and no watermark.

  2. 2

    What it costs

Paid plans start at $79 per seat, one-time payment.

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Cursorful Free: the Chrome extension with browser recording, automatic zooms, editing and unlimited 1080p exports, with no sign-up, watermark or time limit. Non-commercial use only.

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

Web, macOS and Windows, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Automatic zooms and pans

A zoom is added when two or more clicks happen within 3 seconds and follows the cursor while clicking continues. Zooms can be added, removed and adjusted afterward.

  6. 6

    Segment timeline

Zooms, speed changes, camera layouts and blur are segments on one timeline that can be trimmed, moved and stacked. Any segment can be sped up to 10x.

  7. 7

Redrawn cursor in the desktop apps

The desktop apps capture the pointer separately from the video, so it can be smoothed, resized and given sway, motion blur, a shadow and click animations.

  8. 8

    A 3.0 GPA, above 45 of 52

That is against the other screen recording and video tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Cursorful you would be making a video editor. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for screen recordings that zoom in by themselves

Cursorful records your screen and adds zooms and pans wherever you click, and its Chrome extension is free with no sign-up and no watermark. The free version is non-commercial, records only the browser and has no microphone or camera, so work demos need Pro at $79 once. Firefox isn't supported, the Mac app needs Apple silicon, and beyond the zooms there's little editing.

ToolGPA report cardCursorfulGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyAPro is $79 per seat paid once, shown as $40 off a crossed-out $119. A one-off under a year of this category's $10 middle. Cloud storage past the included 10 GB is $0.02 per GB a month.
Free plan and trialBThe free Chrome extension gives automatic zooms, the editor and unlimited 1080p exports with no sign-up, no watermark and no time limit, which is a plan you could live on. It records only the browser though, it's non-commercial, and microphone and camera need Pro.
FeaturesCZooms that follow your clicks, a segment timeline for speed changes and blur, captions made on the device, narration denoising, a redrawn cursor in the desktop apps and ten aspect ratios. It does that one thing fully, and it is a narrow thing: there's no real editing beyond it.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: install the extension and record, no account needed. The zooms simply appear when you click twice or more within 3 seconds.
Platforms and integrationsBA Chrome extension, a web editor and desktop apps for macOS and Windows, so browser and both desktops. Firefox isn't supported, the Mac app needs Apple silicon, and there are no integrations or API to wire it into anything.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Cursorful is for

  • Fits if you record product demos in the browser and want the zooms added for you
  • Works for people who'd pay $79 once before they'd take on another subscription

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want to talk over a free recording, as the microphone and camera need Pro
  • Not for you if you use Firefox, since it isn't supported
  • Tight if you're on an older Intel Mac, because the Mac app requires Apple silicon
  • Watch out: free use is non-commercial and stops at 1080p, and the desktop apps can't export without Pro
  • Watch out: the $79 is shown as $40 off $119, and cloud storage past 10 GB costs $0.02 per GB a month

Good to know

Good for

  • Product demos recorded in the browser with zooms added for you
  • People who want recordings rendered on their own device
  • Buyers who prefer a one-time payment to a subscription

Worth knowing

  • The free plan is for non-commercial use, records only the browser and exports at up to 1080p; microphone, camera and 4K need Pro.
  • The desktop apps need a Pro license to export, and the Mac app requires Apple silicon.
  • Firefox is not supported, and in the extension automatic zooms work only while the browser is in focus.
  • Cloud storage beyond the 10 GB included with Pro costs $0.02 per GB per month.

It does that one thing fully, and it is a narrow thing: there's no real editing beyond it.
From our grade for features
Automatic zooms and pans

Local rendering and aspect ratios
Exports are rendered on the user's machine with hardware encoding, in ten aspect-ratio presets from ultrawide to portrait. 4K needs Pro.
Shareable links
A video can be exported to a streaming link that is public or private to an organization. Pro includes 10 GB of shared cloud storage.

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Other screen recording and video tools it is graded above

Cursorful's GPA of 3.0 is higher than 45 of the 52 other screen recording and video tools we grade, and level with 4.

It stands best on value for money (A, above 39 of 52) and worst on features (C, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Cursorful you would be making a video editor. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 45 of the 52 other screen recording and video tools we grade. It costs $79, paid once.

What you could not

  • A video editor.
  • Audio cleaned up live as you speak.
  • Recording the screen with its sound, and somewhere to keep the video.
  • Speech turned into text you can trust.
  • A real app for macOS and Windows. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.

What this rests on. Cursorful’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
