Docusign refunds and cancellation

Buy an annual plan on the website and you have 30 days to undo it, with the cancellation flow checking your eligibility and paying the money back on its own, which is better than having to argue for it. It is a B because the window is for annual plans only, a monthly plan in the US is not refundable at all, and the offer is one per customer. Buy through a salesperson and none of this applies.

Getting your money back

Docusign says an annual subscription bought online can be refunded within 30 days of account activation in the US, the EU and Brazil, that a monthly plan gives EU customers 14 days and Brazilian customers 7, and that monthly plans in the US are not refundable. The offer is one per customer. Cancelling online checks eligibility and issues the refund. The terms say payments are otherwise non-refundable.

How to cancel Docusign

An administrator cancels an online account under Admin, then Plan and Billing, then Manage Your Subscription and Cancel Plan, giving a reason and confirming. The terms add that an account may be terminated at any time on 10 days' advance written notice through the contact support page. An account bought through a sales representative cannot be cancelled or refunded online.

  1. Sign in to Docusign as an administrator
  2. Select Admin in the top navigation bar
  3. Under ACCOUNT, select Plan and Billing
  4. Scroll down and select Manage Your Subscription, then Cancel Plan
  5. Enter your reason and select Next
  6. Review what is offered, or select Change your plan to downgrade instead
  7. Review the refund information and select Confirm

What you keep afterwards

Docusign warns that once the account is closed you lose access to saved agreements immediately, and points to a separate article on preserving documents first. It says emails go out while the cancellation is processed and after the account closes, and that a few days before the cancellation date an email offers the chance to undo it. Downgrading to the free plan is offered as an alternative to closing.

Renewals

The terms say subscription plans renew automatically unless the plan says otherwise, unless you end the account or set it not to auto-renew, and that you authorise the fees for each renewal term. The refunds article says an account bought through a sales representative renews on its billing anniversary and, where it has an auto-renewal option, gets an email 90 days before.

In your favour

  • Thirty days to change your mind on an annual plan bought online, in the US, the EU and Brazil.
  • The cancellation flow works out whether you qualify and pays the refund back without you asking.
  • An administrator cancels in the account itself, and the terms also allow written notice.
  • A few days before the cancellation takes effect, Docusign emails you a chance to undo it.

Watch out for

  • A monthly plan in the US is not refundable at all, whatever the reason.
  • The refund offer is one per customer or entity, so it will not cover a second change of mind.
  • Bought through a salesperson? That account cannot be cancelled or refunded online during the term.
  • Closing the account cuts off access to saved agreements at once, so download them first.

Getting help from Docusign

BGrade

Good · checked Oct 18, 2026

Every paid subscription comes with Standard support: chat, online cases and a target first reply inside 24 hours, which is at least a number in writing. A phone line is not included anywhere. It is sold as a separate support plan priced only by calling sales, and the faster targets, four hours or two, come with those plans too. Chat for everyone who pays, phone kept behind an upsell, is a B.

Ways to get help

  • Live chat

Docusign Chat Support, listed as part of the Standard support that comes with a paid subscription. The page does not say who answers it or when the chat is staffed.

  • Phone

Phone support by click-to-call from the Support Center, listed only on the paid Plus, Premier and Enterprise Premier support plans, none of which show a price. It is not part of the Standard support included with a subscription.

  • Contact form or ticket

Online case management through the Support Center, listed on Standard support and on every paid support plan above it. Docusign's terms also point to the contact support page for written notice about an account.

  • Help centre

The Docusign Support Center, with articles on billing, refunds, cancelling, admin settings and troubleshooting. Docusign says signers and free account holders can use it for self-service help.

  • Community or forum

The Docusign Community, a public forum of questions and answers on eSignature, payments, developers and other products, readable without an account.

When people answer

A footnote to the phone support row says eSignature support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in English only, and that support for all other products and in other languages runs during local business hours. No hours are given for the chat on its own.

How fast it says it replies

Docusign states target initial response times by support plan: under 24 hours on the Standard support included with a subscription, under 6 hours on Plus, under 4 hours on Premier and under 2 hours on Enterprise Premier. Premier adds emergency support for severity level 1 issues within an hour, and Enterprise Premier within 30 minutes.

What depends on your plan

Standard support comes with a paid subscription and is marked as for web customers only, covering the Support Center, chat, availability monitoring and online cases. Plus, Premier and Enterprise Premier are sold separately, with prices only by phone, and add phone support, technical support and faster targets. Signers and free account holders get self-service help.

In your favour

  • Standard support comes with any paid subscription and carries a written target of under 24 hours.
  • Chat and online case management are included rather than sold as an extra.
  • The page says eSignature support runs around the clock in English.
  • The Support Center and the community forum are open to signers and free account holders.

Watch out for

  • Phone support is not included with any subscription: it needs a paid support plan.
  • Those support plans show no price at all, only a number to call.
  • The page lists chat without saying who answers it or when it is staffed.
  • Support in languages other than English, and for products other than eSignature, is business hours only.

What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: Docusign's support articles on refunds and on cancelling, downgrading or closing an account, its terms and conditions for service plans, its support plans and pricing page, the Support Center and the Docusign Community. The support articles needed a browser to read. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted its support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
