2.4
GPA, above 2 of the 10 other digital business cards we grade
Dot sells NFC devices, including cards, metal cards, thin phone stickers and wristbands, that open a dot.Profile when tapped or scanned. The standard profile is free for life and works in the phone's browser with no app on either side. A paid Profile+ adds an AI card scanner, contact export and branding controls, and dot.Teams adds admin tools and CRM sync.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Dot, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You set up the profile in your phone's browser and share it by tap or QR, with no app to install on either side.

The report card
Best for a one-off NFC card with a free browser profile
Dot sells NFC cards, stickers and bands from $30 once that open a free browser profile, and nobody on either side needs an app. The card scanner, contact export and your own logo cost $12 a month on Profile+, and CRM sync sits on a team plan you can only get by quote.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Profile+ is $12 a month on yearly billing ($15 monthly), and dot.Teams Essential $8 a user, both above this category's dearer quarter at $7.50 but short of its dearest tenth. A dot.card is $30 once and the free profile asks nothing more. |
| Free plan and trial | B | dot.Profile is free for life: unlimited links, 190+ themes, two-way contact exchange, basic contact management and wallet passes. One person can share on that; insights stop at 7 days and the scanner and export are Profile+. |
| Features | C | Cards, stickers, bands and a counter display, a profile with unlimited links, two-way exchange, follow-up reminders, branded QR codes and team templates. The listing's gaps: no mobile app, and CRM sync only on the quoted Growth plan. |
| Ease of use | B | No store rating on record. You set up the profile in your phone's browser and share it by tap or QR, with no app to install on either side. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Web only: no iPhone or Android app, so everything runs in the phone's browser and wallet passes. Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier sync exist only on the quoted dot.Teams Growth plan. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Dot is for
- Fits if you want an NFC card or sticker for $30 once and no subscription
- Works for people who'd rather share contacts without either side installing an app
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want a phone app, as Dot runs only in the browser
- Pricey if you want the card scanner, contact export or your own logo, which need Profile+ at $12 a month yearly or $15 monthly
- Not for you if you need CRM sync at a listed price: Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier are on dot.Teams Growth, which is quoted
- Tight if you're staying free, since insights only go back 7 days and dot. branding stays on your profile
Good to know
Good for
- Individuals who want a cheap NFC card and a free profile
- People who would rather not install an app to share contacts
- Teams that want devices included with a per-member plan
Worth knowing
- Dot has no mobile app; everything runs in the phone's browser and on the web.
- The AI card scanner, contact export, your logo and removing dot. branding need Profile+, at $12 a month yearly or $15 monthly.
- Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier sync are on dot.Teams Growth, which is quoted; Essential lists no CRM integration.
- The free profile shows only the last 7 days of insights.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Dot you could make: digital business card. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 7 of the 10 other digital business cards grade higher. It costs $96 a year.
What you could make
- Digital business card: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier among them.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Dot’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
