Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 6 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Eisenhower is a to-do app built around the Eisenhower Matrix, which sorts tasks into four quadrants by urgency and importance: do first, schedule, delegate and don't do. The free web app includes the matrix, a Pomodoro-like Focus Mode timer and sync with the paid iPhone app. Two yearly premium plans, General and President, add task details, goals, a kanban board, a calendar and access for AI agents.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Eisenhower, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: open the web app and the four boxes are already there.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for a free urgent-or-important matrix in a browser

Eisenhower is the four-box urgent-or-important matrix as a web app, and the free Ike plan has the matrix, a focus timer and calendar scheduling.

  2. 2

    What it costs

Paid plans start at $2.99 one-time for the iPhone app; Premium $4.90 / month, billed yearly.

  3. 3

    Web and iOS.

  5. 5

    Four-quadrant matrix

Tasks are filed under Do first, Schedule, Delegate or Don't do, and moved by drag and drop when priorities change. Counters and a warning discourage more than about eight tasks in a quadrant.

  6. 6

    Focus Mode timer

A Pomodoro-like egg timer gives one task the whole screen for 25 minutes by default or a chosen duration, with optional halfway and time-up notifications.

  7. 7

    Scheduling and delegation

A task can be scheduled in Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, and the delegate action prepares an email or share dialog containing the task description.

  8. 8

The report card

Best for a free urgent-or-important matrix in a browser

Eisenhower is the four-box urgent-or-important matrix as a web app, and the free Ike plan has the matrix, a focus timer and calendar scheduling. Past that, the free plan shows ads and keeps only 10 completed tasks per quadrant. Due dates and task notes need $58.80 a year, the Board and Calendar views need $118.80 a year, the iPhone app is another $2.99, and there's no Android app.

ToolGPA report cardEisenhowerGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDDue dates and task notes, which most of this category gives away, need General at $58.80 a year, above the $3.99 middle. The Board and Calendar views need President at $9.90 a month, which is the dearest tenth. The iPhone app is another $2.99.
Free plan and trialCThe free Ike plan has the matrix, Focus Mode, calendar scheduling and sync, which isn't nothing. But it shows ads, keeps only 10 completed tasks per quadrant, and has no due dates, descriptions or Inbox.
FeaturesCFour quadrants with drag and drop, a full-screen timer, scheduling into Google Calendar or Outlook, delegating by email: it covers the matrix. That's a narrower job than this category's, and the goals, board and calendar all sit on paid plans.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: open the web app and the four boxes are already there. It counts the tasks in a quadrant and warns you past about eight.
Platforms and integrationsBA web app plus a paid iPhone app that syncs with it, hooked into Google Calendar and Outlook, with an API and MCP on the President plan. The help page says there's no Android app yet.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Eisenhower is for

  • Fits if you want to try the Eisenhower method in a browser without paying
  • Works for short lists you work through one task at a time with a timer

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if all you want is due dates and notes, since they need the $58.80 a year General plan
  • Skip it if you're on Android, as there's no app for it yet, and the iPhone app is a separate $2.99
  • Not for you if you'd rather pay monthly, as both paid plans are billed yearly, at $58.80 and $118.80
  • Tight if you stay free: ads, no Inbox or Dark Mode, and only 10 completed tasks kept per quadrant
  • Watch out: the Board and Calendar views and AI agent access are President only, at $118.80 a year

Good to know

Good for

  • People who sort tasks by urgency and importance
  • A free matrix in the browser with no installation
  • Short daily lists worked one task at a time with a timer
  • Connecting an AI assistant to a task list through MCP

Worth knowing

  • The free Ike plan shows ads and keeps only 10 completed tasks per quadrant; task details, due dates, the Inbox and Dark Mode need General.
  • General and President are billed yearly at $58.80 and $118.80. The terms say the monthly prices shown are yearly equivalents.
  • The iPhone app is a separate $2.99 purchase, and the help page says there is no Android app yet.
  • Board and Calendar views and AI agent access are limited to the President plan.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Eisenhower for yourself: tasks, Pomodoro timer, goals, kanban boards and calendar. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $2.99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Tasks, Pomodoro timer, goals, kanban boards and calendar: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook among them, and has an API.

What this rests on. Eisenhower’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
