Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 19 of the 43 other habit trackers we grade
Everyday is a minimalist habit tracker built by Joan Boixadós in Barcelona around the "don't break the chain" method. All habits sit on one board, each completed day extends a chain whose color deepens as it grows, and skips keep a chain intact on days off. It runs in a browser, as apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Android, and as a new-tab browser extension.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Everyday, taken from its own pages and our grades.
It runs in a browser, on phones, a Mac and a watch, and can take over your new tab.
- 1
Best for not breaking the chain on one simple board
Everyday is a don't-break-the-chain tracker: all your habits sit on one board, and each day you keep going the chain gets a deeper color.
- 2
Paid plans start at $2.50 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $2.5 per month, billed annually ($29.99 per year).
- 3
There is a free plan
Free forever for up to 3 habits on web, iOS and Android, with the Chrome and Firefox extensions, yearly data visualization, email and push reminders, and skips.
- 4
It runs on 4 platforms
Web, macOS, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Habit board with chains
All habits sit on a single board that shows progress at a glance, and each consecutive completed day deepens the color of a habit's chain. Habits to break get chains with descending colors.
- 6
Skips and no-weekends
A skip keeps a chain intact when you are ill or away and can stand in for habits that are not daily. The no-weekends option skips weekends automatically.
- 7
Reminders
Email and mobile push reminders, including a "don't skip twice in a row" email meant to stop one missed day from becoming two.
- 8
A 2.6 GPA, above 19 of 43
That is against the other habit trackers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Your call
A habit tracker at its plainest is a list of habits, a tick for each day and a count of the streak.

The report card
Best for not breaking the chain on one simple board
Everyday is a don't-break-the-chain tracker: all your habits sit on one board, and each day you keep going the chain gets a deeper color. It runs in a browser, on phones, a Mac and a watch, and can take over your new tab. Free is 3 habits, sync between your devices is held back for Premium at $29.99 a year, and there are no integrations, no API and no Windows app.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Premium is $29.99 a year, $2.50 a month, in the middle of this category, between its $1.99 cheapest quarter and its $5.99 dearest. Pay month to month and it's $7.49. The Lifetime license is $99, more than two years of the category's middle subscription. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free forever, with all the colors, unlimited history storage, yearly charts, email and push reminders and skips. But it's 3 habits, and sync between your devices is Premium, so the free version is really one device and three chains. |
| Features | C | It covers the chain method: one board, deepening colors, skips and a no-weekends setting, break habits with descending colors, current against longest streak, and a "don't skip twice" email. That's a smaller job than this category's, though, with no numeric targets, no health data and nothing it connects to. |
| Ease of use | A | 4.7 on the App Store from about 4,500 ratings, the top of our ladder. One board, one tap per habit, and the browser extension puts it on your new tab so you don't have to remember to open anything. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, Apple Watch and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. No Windows or Linux app, and no integrations or API at all, which is what keeps it off an A. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Everyday is for
- Fits if you like the don't-break-the-chain method on one board
- Works for people in a browser all day, as the extension turns every new tab into your board
Who it is not for
- Tight if you stay free, with 3 habits and sync between devices kept for Premium
- Pricey if you pay month to month, at $7.49 against $29.99 for the year, or $99 for Lifetime
- Skip it if you want your habits to talk to other apps, as no integrations or API are listed
- Watch out: archiving, insights, your full history and mobile dark mode are Premium too, and there's no Windows or Linux app
- Watch out: the App Store lists Lifetime at $99.99 and a second item at $49.99, against $99 on the pricing page
Good to know
Good for
- People who like the "don't break the chain" method on a single board
- Checking off the same habits from a browser tab, a phone and a watch
- Buyers who want a one-time lifetime license instead of a subscription
Worth knowing
- The free plan stops at 3 habits; unlimited habits, archiving, insights and access to all habit history need Premium.
- Synchronisation between devices and mobile dark mode are listed under Premium, not Free, on the pricing page.
- No Windows or Linux app is listed; there Everyday runs in a browser or as a browser extension.
- The US App Store lists Premium at the same $29.99 a year and $7.49 a month, but Lifetime at $99.99 with a second item at $49.99.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A habit tracker at its plainest is a list of habits, a tick for each day and a count of the streak.
You could make the core of Everyday for yourself: habit tracking. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $30 a year.
What you could make
- Habit tracking: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- Hooks into the device itself: an Apple Watch app.
What this rests on. Everyday’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
