Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 5 of the 65 other focus apps we grade
Flocus is a browser-based focus dashboard from Gridfiti that puts a customizable timer, a short to-do list, focus statistics, music and ambient sounds on one themed screen. The timer runs in Pomodoro, countdown, stopwatch, Animedoro or 52/17 mode. The basics are free with no card required, and Flocus Plus adds the full task, theme and sound libraries along with cross-device sync.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Flocus, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for a timer, to-dos and music in one browser tab
Flocus is a browser tab with a focus timer, a short to-do list, music and rain sounds on one screen.

As its pricing page puts it: $5 / month, billed annually (early-bird price), or $9 monthly.
- 3

- 5
Focus timer with several modes
Pomodoro, countdown, stopwatch, Animedoro and 52/17 modes, each with adjustable focus and break lengths. A picture-in-picture window keeps the timer visible in Chrome and Edge.
- 6
Priority to-do list
A drag-and-drop task list keeps the current task front and center. Free accounts hold 3 tasks at once; Plus removes the cap and adds durations and ETAs.
- 7
Focus stats and streaks
Every timed session is logged automatically, with a daily streak. Daily stats are free; weekly and monthly views and charts need Plus.

The report card
Best for a timer, to-dos and music in one browser tab
Flocus is a browser tab with a focus timer, a short to-do list, music and rain sounds on one screen. The free version holds only 3 tasks and one day of stats, Plus is $5 a month yearly or $9 monthly with no refunds, sync and the full libraries are Plus only, and there's no phone app.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Plus is $5 a month billed yearly, or $9 monthly, which is ordinary money in a category whose middle is $3.99 and whose cheapest quarter starts at $2.99. Flocus says the $5 early-bird rate never rises for you. Lifetime is $149, or $99 until the end of October, and no payment is refundable. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free for ever with no card and no ads, but the caps arrive on day one: 3 tasks at a time, focus stats for a single day, a cut-down set of themes and sounds, and no sync between your devices. |
| Features | C | The basics on one screen: five timer modes including 52/17, a drag-and-drop priority list, streaks, playlists pasted from Spotify or YouTube, and noise layered under ambient sound. The listing shows where it stops, though: weekly and monthly stats, the full sound and theme libraries and sync are all Plus. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record for a web tool, but there's nothing to install or sign up for: open the tab and the timer, tasks, music and sounds are all on the one screen, with a picture-in-picture timer in Chrome and Edge. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | A browser tab, nothing more. The help centre says there's no iOS or Android app and that it's built for desktop and tablet, so your phone is out, and the music services are the only things it joins up with. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Flocus is for
- Fits if you want your timer, to-dos and music in one tab while you study
- Works for people who like trying timer styles, from Pomodoro to 52/17
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want a focus timer on your phone, as there's no app
- Tight if you're staying free and juggle more than 3 tasks at once
- Not for you if you might want your money back, since Plus payments are final sale
- Watch out: sync between devices, weekly and monthly stats and the full theme and sound sets are Plus only
- Pricey if you pay month to month, at $9 against $5 a month on the yearly plan
Good to know
Good for
- Students and desk workers who want a timer, to-do list and music in one browser tab
- People who like to work to ambient sound against a styled background
- Trying different timer styles, from Pomodoro to 52/17
Worth knowing
- Browser-based only: there is no iOS or Android app, and the help center says it is designed for desktop and tablet.
- The free plan holds 3 tasks at a time and shows focus stats for a single day.
- Cross-device sync, the full theme and sound libraries and weekly and monthly stats need Flocus Plus.
- The refund policy says all Flocus Plus transactions are final sale; you can cancel, but past payments are not refunded.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
You could make this
A focus timer at its plainest counts down 25 minutes and keeps a log.
What Flocus does at its core is Pomodoro timer and tasks, and that is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well. You would give up one thing, listed below, and little else. It costs $60 a year. An AI app builder starts at about $19 a month on our listings, and you only need it while you build.
What you could make
- Pomodoro timer and tasks: an app builder makes these well.
- It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.
What you could not
- A library of sound you would have to license.
What this rests on. Flocus’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
