Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 19 of the 21 other AI image and video generators we grade

Magnific, the new name for Freepik, combines a library of more than 250 million stock photos, vectors, videos and PSD files with AI tools for images, video, audio, 3D and design. Its AI tools run many partner models, such as Nano Banana, Kling, Seedance and Veo, alongside its own upscaler, and are paid for in credits. Paid plans add unlimited stock downloads, a commercial AI license and API access.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Magnific, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Everything runs on one credit balance, with a table of what each model costs.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for stock assets and AI generation in one plan

No free AI allowance is stated, though, so you can't really try the AI side without paying.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $14.50 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $14.50 per month for 20,000 credits, billed annually ($20 billed monthly).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

A free account can download 10 stock files a day, with attribution, and is for personal use only. The pricing page does not state a free AI credit allowance.

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Web, iOS and Android.

  5. 5

More than 250 million photos, vectors, illustrations, icons, videos, templates, mockups and PSD files, with unlimited downloads on paid plans.

  6. 6

    Image and video generation

Runs partner models such as Nano Banana, GPT Image, Flux, Kling, Seedance and Veo, with a table of each model's credit cost per image or clip.

To replace Magnific you would be making an image model, which you can rent by the picture but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for stock assets and AI generation in one plan

Magnific, the new name for Freepik, is a stock library of 250 million files with a full set of AI image, video and audio tools on top. Premium is $14.50 a month on yearly billing, with a year of credits up front, about 3,200 Nano Banana 2 images. No free AI allowance is stated, though, so you can't really try the AI side without paying.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPremium is $14.50 a month on yearly billing ($20 monthly), at this category's dearer quarter. A year's 240,000 credits arrive at once, about 3,200 Nano Banana 2 images, and unlimited downloads from 250 million stock files come with it.
Free plan and trialCA free account gets 10 stock downloads a day, with attribution, for personal use. The pricing page states no free AI credits, so there's nothing on record for making images free.
FeaturesAImage, video, audio and 3D generation on Nano Banana, Kling, Seedance and Veo, the Magnific upscaler, relighting, a video editor and Spaces for workflows. What rivals lack is 250 million stock photos, vectors, videos and PSDs in the same plan.
Ease of useA4.72 from about 1,800 App Store ratings, in the top band. Everything runs on one credit balance, with a table of what each model costs.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with an API on paid plans, an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT, and ComfyUI. No desktop app in the listing, which an A needs.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Magnific is for

  • Great if you buy stock and make AI images, and want one bill for both
  • Handy when you want to compare lots of image and video models on one balance
  • Good for agencies that need roles, permissions and credits per seat

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you only want to try AI images free, as no free AI allowance is stated
  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $20 against $14.50, and unused credits are lost each month

Good to know

Good for

  • Designers who want stock assets and AI generation in one subscription
  • Comparing many image and video models side by side on one credit balance
  • Agencies that need a shared workspace with roles and per-seat credits

Worth knowing

  • Freepik now trades as Magnific; freepik.com and its pricing page redirect to magnific.com.
  • Annual plans hand over a year's credits at once with no monthly resets; on monthly billing, unused credits do not roll over.
  • Unlimited covers selected models only, and Nano Banana Pro and some GPT and Flux models move to credits on Premium+ and Business at the next renewal.
  • Extra credits can be bought only on Premium+ and Pro and expire three years after purchase; the merchandise license is Pro only.

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

19/21

Other AI image and video generators it is graded above

Magnific's GPA of 3.0 is higher than 19 of the 21 other AI image and video generators we grade, and level with 2.

It stands best on features (A, above 20 of 21) and worst on value for money (C, above 2).

Its paid plans start at $14.50 a month, against a middle price of $12 for the category: 12 of the 16 others that charge start lower.

On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 3.7 out of 4, and no tool on the category's chart scores higher without costing more.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Magnific you would be making an image model, which you can rent by the picture but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 19 of the 21 other AI image and video generators we grade. It costs $174 a year.

What you could make

  • Templates: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • An image model, which you can rent by the picture but not make.
  • A video model, which you can rent by the second but not make.
  • A video editor.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • Several people working in it at the same moment.
  • It plugs into other products, Claude, ChatGPT and ComfyUI among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Magnific’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
