Habitica refund policy
Habitica states a refund policy with no set window, and you cancel through the app store that billed you.
Habitica refunds and cancellation
Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026
The terms invite you to ask for your most recent payment back, which is more than many apps offer, but the wording is careful: a refund, if any, worth whatever subscription benefits you haven't used and whatever the payment processor's window allows. No number, no promise, and you ask by email. Against that, Habitica itself is free, so stopping the subscription costs you perks rather than the app. That is the ordinary deal, so a C.

- Getting your money back
The terms say you can request a refund of your most recent payment by contacting Habitica by email, and that the amount, if any, will be based on the purchased but unused subscription benefits and on the terms its payment processors impose, including how long their refund period runs. No window is given. For an App Store purchase the terms say Apple must be asked, because developers cannot refund those.
Stated on habitica.com- How to cancel Habitica
Habitica's App Store listing says a subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and that you manage it and switch off auto-renewal in your Apple Account settings. A Group Plan, which is billed on the website, is cancelled from the Group Billing tab of the plan itself. No page we read says how to stop an individual subscription bought on habitica.com.
Stated on apps.apple.com- What you keep afterwards
No page read says what happens to subscriber perks once a subscription lapses, beyond the App Store listing's line that the app can be fully enjoyed for free. The terms say that if an account is terminated you lose access to it and to any data or content with it. A FAQ answer says task data can be exported from the Site Data tab in Settings, and the privacy policy gives a right to ask for erasure.
Stated on habitica.com- Renewals
The Group Plans page says a Group Plan renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, that you are charged within the 24 hours before renewal based on the member count at that moment, and that members added mid-period show up as a prorated charge next cycle. The App Store listing says the same 24-hour rule for individual subscriptions. No reminder is promised.

In your favour
- The terms openly invite you to ask for your most recent payment back, which is unusual.
- Habitica itself is free, so ending a subscription costs you perks rather than the app.
- A Group Plan is cancelled by you, from the Group Billing tab of the plan.
- You can export your task data from the Site Data tab in Settings before you go.
Watch out for
- Any refund is worth only your unused benefits, and the terms twice say if any.
- You have to send an email to ask: there is no refund button anywhere.
- Nothing on Habitica's own site says how to stop an individual subscription bought on the web.
- Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, with no reminder.
Getting help from Habitica
Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026
One email address handles everything, from account problems to subscription and payment issues, with a long FAQ behind it and a bug report you can file from inside the app. For an open-source project with a public code repository that's a fair offer. What it doesn't give you is a reply time, any hours, or a word in the FAQ about cancelling or refunds. That puts it where most apps sit, at a C.
Ways to get help
Email
The Contact Us page lists a single email address against every heading it has: account problems, bug reports, subscription and payment issues, business and marketing questions, and merchandise. The FAQ points to the same address for anything it does not answer.
Stated on habitica.comHelp inside the app
Bugs can be reported from inside the product: on the mobile apps through the menu, Support, Get Help and then Report a Bug, and on the website from the Help menu's Report a Bug item.
Stated on habitica.comHelp centre
A long FAQ page covering tasks, habits, avatars, parties, quests, group plans, exporting data and reporting bugs. It is public and needs no account, and the site also publishes API documentation.
Stated on habitica.comCommunity or forum
Habitica is open source and its code, issues and contributor wiki are public on GitHub, which the site's footer links to as Contributing to Habitica.

In your favour
- One address covers everything, including subscription and payment problems, so there is no routing maze.
- The FAQ is long and plainly written, and it is open to free users and subscribers alike.
- Bugs are reported from inside the app or the website, rather than through a separate system.
- The code and its issue tracker are public, so you can see what is being worked on.
Watch out for
- No hours and no reply time are stated on any page we read.
- There is no live chat, no phone line and no ticket system: it is one mailbox.
- The FAQ says nothing about cancelling a subscription or asking for a refund.
- Feature requests go to a Google form, where you cannot follow what happens next.
What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: Habitica's terms of service and their Premium Service and Payments section, its privacy policy, its FAQ, its Contact Us page, its Group Plans page, its App Store listing and its public GitHub repository. Habitica has no help centre beyond the FAQ, so none was read. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted its support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
