Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 19 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade
Lovable builds web applications from natural-language prompts, generating the frontend, backend, database and authentication as editable code. Projects live in shared workspaces, can be synced to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, and publish to a web URL with optional custom domains. Plans are priced by monthly credits rather than by seat, and the same credit balance pays for building, hosting and AI features inside deployed apps.
To get you started, here are 10 things to know about Lovable, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for building a web app in chat, alone or as a team
Lovable builds a full web app from a chat: the screens, the backend, the database and the login, as code you can sync to GitHub on any plan.
- 2
Paid plans start at $21 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $21 per month, billed annually ($250 a year); $25 billed monthly.
- 3
There is a free plan
5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus monthly grants of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits. Unlimited members and 5 lovable.app domains; no custom domains or code editing.
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
- 5
Prompt-to-app building
Describe an app in chat and Lovable generates working code. Plan mode costs 1 credit per message, while Build mode charges by the complexity of the task.
- 6
Lovable Cloud backend
A built-in backend covers database, storage, compute and realtime usage for deployed apps, paid from the same credits. Every plan includes a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits.
- 7
Git sync and code ownership
Each project is a codebase that can sync with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan. Editing and downloading code inside Lovable starts on Pro.
- 8
Refunds: no set window
The terms have a section headed No Refunds and it means it. What you get instead is a clean door out: you downgrade to Free yourself in the workspace settings, keep the plan to the end of the period you paid for, and your published apps stay live.
- 9
A 2.8 GPA, above 19 of 26
That is against the other AI app builders we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 10
Keep it
To replace Lovable you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for building a web app in chat, alone or as a team
Lovable builds a full web app from a chat: the screens, the backend, the database and the login, as code you can sync to GitHub on any plan. A team shares one pool of credits with no charge per person, and Pro starts at $25 a month. But the free plan stops at 30 build credits a month, messages cost a variable amount, SSO costs double on Business, and it only makes web apps, so look elsewhere for the App Store.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Pro starts at $25 a month, or $250 for the year, which comes to about $21. That's mid-table for builders here, where the middle is $19. You get 100 credits a month, shared by unlimited members with no per-seat charge. A Build mode message costs a varying amount. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free for good, but the meter is mean: 5 build credits a day and no more than 30 a month, when one Build message can cost several. You do get unlimited members, 5 lovable.app addresses and GitHub sync. No custom domains, no code editing, and the Lovable badge stays put. |
| Features | C | Describe the app and it writes the front end, back end, database and sign-in as real code, with Lovable Cloud running the deployed version, Git sync on every plan, connectors and MCP servers. But the listing names the boundary: it builds web apps, and publishing goes to a web URL, never the app stores. |
| Ease of use | A | 4.8 from about 2,200 App Store ratings, the highest in this category. You build by chatting, and Plan mode lets you talk an idea through at 1 credit a message before anything gets built. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. It connects to GitHub, Supabase, Stripe, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Figma and Airtable, you can add your own MCP servers, and there's a Lovable API on Business plans. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Lovable is for
- Fits if you're a founder turning an idea into a working web app
- Works for teams building internal tools from one shared pool of credits
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want an iPhone or Android app in the stores, as Lovable publishes to a web URL only
- Tight if you're staying free, at 5 build credits a day and 30 a month, with no custom domain, no code editing and the badge on
- Pricey if you need SSO or role-based access, since Business costs twice as much as Pro for the same credits
- Watch out: a Build mode message costs a variable amount, so you can't tell in advance how far 100 credits go
Good to know
Good for
- Founders and product teams turning an idea into a working web app
- Teams building internal tools from one shared credit pool, with no per-seat fee
- Developers who want generated code synced to their own Git repository
Worth knowing
- Usage is metered in credits, and a Build mode message costs a variable amount depending on the task.
- Free workspaces get 30 build credits a month at most and cannot use custom domains, edit code or remove the Lovable badge.
- SSO, role-based access and internal publishing start on Business, which costs twice as much as Pro for the same credits.
- Lovable builds web apps: publishing deploys to a web URL, not to the App Store or Google Play.
Part 02 · Tips
Insider tips
What most people miss: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches
7
Things most people miss, each from its own help pages
The things about Lovable that are easy to miss until they cost you: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches at renewal or when you leave. Each one is from Lovable’s own pages, linked beside it.
Read on Oct 17, 2026. Read from Lovable's docs (credits and usage, changing or cancelling a plan, training data, version history, the editor, deleting a project) on 17 October 2026. Not tried out: these tips are what its own pages say.
- 1
Privacy
On Free or Pro, switch off model training in your account settings
Since 9 September 2026, Lovable may train its models on Free and Pro users' content unless you opt out. It's under Account settings, Preferences, AI model training. Opting out only counts from then on. Business and Enterprise are left out by default.
docs.lovable.dev - 2
Pay less
Stop a Build message before it edits anything and it costs nothing
Its credits page says a stopped request that hasn't changed the project yet isn't charged. Once it has made changes, you pay for the work so far. Making, accepting or deleting a draft is free too, and the More options menu on a message shows what it cost.
docs.lovable.dev - 3
Easy to miss
Reverting puts back your code, not your data or your credits
Revert in the History panel restores the project's code only. Database changes made since, migrations included, stay put, and the credits those messages cost aren't refunded. Bookmark versions that work, as very old ones can be looked at but not restored.
docs.lovable.dev - 4
Shortcut
Press Cmd+B to hide the chat and give the preview the whole window
Cmd+K opens a palette to jump to projects, folders and settings, Cmd+. opens project settings, and the [ key toggles the sidebar. On Windows and Linux it's Ctrl in place of Cmd.
docs.lovable.dev - 5
Leaving
Cancelling freezes your leftover credits rather than wiping them
There's no cancel button: go to Workspace settings, Plans & credit usage, Manage, then Downgrade to free. You keep the plan to the end of the period. Unused monthly credits are frozen, not refunded, and come back if you upgrade before they expire.
docs.lovable.dev - 6
Renewal
A plan bought in the iPhone app doesn't renew on its own
Its subscription page says plans bought through the iOS app don't renew. The plan card reads Managed by App Store, and the workspace drops to Free when the paid period ends. The mobile app can't cancel a web plan either: do that at lovable.dev in a browser.
docs.lovable.dev - 7
Leaving
A deleted project can be brought back for 60 days
Deleting takes the app offline within a minute, but Lovable keeps the code, history and chat for 60 days. Restore it under Workspace settings, Workspace, Recently deleted projects. A connected GitHub repo is never deleted with it.

Other AI app builders it is graded above
Lovable's GPA of 2.8 is higher than 19 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade, and level with 5.
It stands best on ease of use (A, above 24 of 26) and worst on features (C, above 0).
Its paid plans start at $21 a month, against a middle price of $19 for the category: 18 of the 26 others that charge start lower.
On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 3.3 out of 4. 1 tool scores higher and costs less.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Lovable you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 2.8 is higher than 19 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade. It costs $252 a year.
What you could not
- A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- Several people working in it at the same moment.
- It plugs into other products, GitHub, Supabase and Stripe among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Lovable’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
Part 06 · Refunds
After you pay
Getting your money back, getting out, and getting help
What happens once you have paid: whether you can get your money back, how to leave, and how to reach a person when something goes wrong. Each is graded from Lovable’s own terms and help pages.
Refunds and cancelling
Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026
The terms have a section headed No Refunds and it means it. What you get instead is a clean door out: you downgrade to Free yourself in the workspace settings, keep the plan to the end of the period you paid for, and your published apps stay live. The sting is the credits. Cancel with unused monthly or rollover credits and they are frozen rather than refunded, so the only way to get the value back is to start paying again.
- Refund window
- No set window
- How you cancel
- Yourself, in settings
- Getting your money back
The terms say that except where the law requires it, all fees are non-refundable, and that prepaid credits are non-refundable and not redeemable for cash. The docs repeat it: cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current billing period. Credits are consumed by each AI action whatever the result, and are not restored even when the output is wrong. Lovable says it will review a charge made in error.
Stated on lovable.dev- How to cancel Lovable
A workspace owner or admin cancels by downgrading to Free in Workspace settings, under Plans and credit usage: Manage on the plan card, then Downgrade to free. The docs say there is no cancel button as such and no need to contact support. The mobile app has no cancel option, so on a phone you use the browser. A plan bought inside the iOS app covers one month and does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel.
- Open Workspace settings, then Plans and credit usage
- Select Manage on your plan card
- Select Downgrade to free
- Complete the downgrade flow
- What you keep afterwards
The plan runs to the end of the current billing period, then the workspace moves to Free, and until then the dialog offers Cancel downgrade. Published apps stay live, though Lovable may unpublish one after 12 months with no visits and no owner sign-in if it has no custom domain, emailing first and keeping it. Unused monthly and rollover credits are frozen; top-up and bonus credits stay usable until they expire.
Stated on docs.lovable.dev- Renewals
The terms say paid plans are billed in advance monthly or annually and renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date in your account settings. No reminder before a renewal is mentioned anywhere in the pages read. Plans bought inside the iOS app are the exception: each purchase covers one month and does not renew on its own.
Stated on lovable.dev
In your favour
- You downgrade to Free yourself in the workspace settings, with nobody to contact.
- The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and you can undo the downgrade until then.
- Published apps stay live after you stop paying rather than going dark.
- Top-up credits you bought and any bonus credits keep working on the free plan until they expire.
Watch out for
- The terms are headed No Refunds: beyond what the law requires, nothing comes back.
- Unused monthly and rollover credits are frozen, not refunded, and thaw only if you subscribe again.
- Credits are spent on each AI action whatever the result, and are not restored for a bad one.
- Plans renew on their own, monthly or yearly, and no page promises a warning first.
Customer support
Good · checked Oct 18, 2026
Pay and you can reach the team, through a form that needs a login and a paid workspace, with a stated target of a first reply within 24 hours. That written target is more than most give. It is not an A because nobody answers live: an AI handles the form first and you have to ask it to pass you to a person, the team says it works mainly on weekdays, and on the free plan the Contact us button offers you an upgrade instead.
Ways to get help
Email
The support policy says that if the form is unavailable, or you cannot log in to use it, you can email the support address from the same account email. A separate address is given for privacy requests.
Stated on docs.lovable.devContact form or ticket
A support form on Lovable's support page, for logged-in users whose workspace is on a paid plan. Lovable's support AI answers first, usually within a couple of minutes, and if that does not help you ask for a human, who follows up by email.
Stated on lovable.devHelp inside the app
Enterprise workspaces can open a support request from inside the editor, through the chat actions menu, without the form. Lovable attaches the project, workspace and account details automatically, and the team replies by email.
Stated on docs.lovable.devHelp centre
Documentation at docs.lovable.dev with a docs assistant that answers from it, plus a public status page for incidents and a free video academy run by the Lovable team. All of it is open without an account.
Stated on docs.lovable.devCommunity or forum
A Discord server open on every plan, where Lovable staff and community champions take part. The support policy says plainly that community answers are not official support.
Stated on docs.lovable.dev
Not listed on Lovable’s pages: live chat, phone.
- When people answer
No opening times are published. The support policy says only that the team responds within 24 hours, mainly on weekdays, and that Enterprise response times are set by the contract and the account team instead.
Stated on docs.lovable.dev- How fast it says it replies
The support policy states that the support team responds within 24 hours, mainly on weekdays, and says explicitly that this is the time to a first reply and not the time to a resolution. Business plans are described as prioritised for a faster response, without a figure attached.
Stated on docs.lovable.dev- What depends on your plan
Free gets community support only: the docs, the docs assistant, the status page and Discord. Pro adds email support through the form. Business adds priority, meaning requests are put ahead of others. Enterprise adds a dedicated account team, priority response times set by contract, and the in-editor route.
Stated on docs.lovable.dev
In your favour
- A written target of a first reply within 24 hours, which plenty of rivals never commit to.
- The docs are unusually honest about billing, saying outright what support will and will not do.
- Discord is open on every plan, free included, with Lovable staff taking part.
- Enterprise workspaces raise a ticket from inside the editor with the project details attached.
Watch out for
- Free users cannot reach a person: the Contact us button opens an upgrade prompt instead of the form.
- An AI answers the form first, and you have to ask for a human to be passed on.
- The team works mainly on weekdays, so a Saturday problem is likely to wait.
- Support will not debug the code in your project: that is left to Lovable's own chat.
What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: Lovable's terms of service, including its No Refunds section, and its documentation on changing or cancelling a subscription, the support policy with its plan-by-plan table and response target, the subscription plans page and the support page. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted its support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
