Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 19 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade
Macaly is an AI agent that builds websites and web apps from a prompt and hosts them, with a database, logins, analytics and SEO tools included. Projects can start from a description, a screenshot, a document or an existing online listing, and edits can be made by clicking on the page. The agent can also be driven from WhatsApp, Telegram, Claude or ChatGPT. Plans are priced by monthly credits, in US dollars, euros or Czech koruna.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Macaly, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You can start from a screenshot, a PDF or a Google Maps listing, and nudge the agent from WhatsApp.
- 1
Best for prompt-built websites and web apps, hosted for you
Macaly builds a website or web app from a prompt and hosts it, database and logins included.
- 2
Paid plans start at $10 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $10 per month (Starter, 1M credits).
- 3
There is a free plan
1M credits a month, 1 published app on a macaly.app address, 1GB of traffic, 1 GiB of database usage, 50,000 backend API calls and 100 Cloud actions a month.

- 5
Agent that builds full-stack projects
The agent plans, asks questions and builds websites and web apps from a prompt, on Next.js with a Convex database. Paid plans add debugging and browser testing.
- 6
Several ways to start
A project can start from a screenshot or link, a Word, Excel or PDF file, or a YouTube video. Website tools turn a Google Maps listing, an Airbnb page or a PDF into a site.
- 7
Visual edits
Text, images and other elements can be changed by clicking them in the preview. These edits use no credits, except Ask AI, which shows its price before it runs.
- 8
A 2.8 GPA, above 19 of 26
That is against the other AI app builders we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Macaly you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for prompt-built websites and web apps, hosted for you
Macaly builds a website or web app from a prompt and hosts it, database and logins included. You can start from a screenshot, a PDF or a Google Maps listing, and nudge the agent from WhatsApp. Starter puts one app on your own domain for $10 a month, but with the same 1M credits as Free. It only builds with Next.js and Convex, unused credits expire monthly, and the free plan was cut to 1M credits on October 8.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Starter is $10 a month, inside the cheapest quarter of what builders here charge, and it puts one app on your own domain with code download, analytics, SEO tools and Stripe. The snag: it carries the same 1M credits as the free plan, so real building room means Pro at $25, the dear end of ordinary. |
| Free plan and trial | B | Free renews every month: 1M credits, one published app on a macaly.app address, a database, logins and 50,000 backend API calls. The caps are everywhere: 1GB of traffic, no custom domain, no code download, no analytics. |
| Features | C | The agent builds full-stack projects with hosting, a database and logins on every plan, you can start from a screenshot, a PDF or a Google Maps listing, and click-to-edit costs no credits. But Macaly's own FAQ names the limits: Next.js and Convex only, and not meant for native phone apps. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record. You describe it, or hand over a screenshot, a Word file or a link, and the agent builds and hosts the thing. Fixing text and images is a click in the preview, and those edits cost no credits. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | A web app, with nothing on desktop or phone. The agent is reachable over WhatsApp and Telegram, and Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can drive it through the Macaly MCP server. It connects to Stripe, GitHub, Google Sheets and Notion. The Macaly API waits for Agency, from $350. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Macaly is for
- Fits if you want a site with bookings, forms or logins and no hosting to sort out
- Works for agencies, since the Agency plan keeps each client in a separate workspace
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you need a native iPhone or Android app, as Macaly's FAQ says it isn't meant for those
- Tight if you're staying free, with 1M credits a month, one published app, 1GB of traffic and no custom domain, code download or analytics
- Not for you if you want to pick your own stack, because it works only with Next.js and Convex
- Watch out: unused credits expire each billing period on every plan below Agency, and Starter has no more credits than Free
- Watch out: cancel a paid plan and a site on your own domain goes offline at the end of the billing period
Good to know
Good for
- Small businesses that want a site with bookings, forms or logins
- Marketing teams shipping landing pages and campaign sites
- Agencies running client projects in separate workspaces
Worth knowing
- Free and Starter each allow 1 published app at a time, and Free has no custom domain, code download or analytics.
- Unused credits on Free, Starter and Pro expire at the end of each billing period; only Agency credits roll over, for up to 60 days.
- Macaly's FAQ says it works only with Next.js and Convex and is not meant for native iOS or Android apps.
- Canceling a paid plan takes a site on a custom domain offline at the end of the billing period; the $5 Hosting plan is closed to new customers.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Macaly you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 2.8 is higher than 19 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade. It costs $120 a year.
What you could not
- A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
- It plugs into other products, Stripe, GitHub and Google Sheets among them, and has an API.
What this rests on. Macaly’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
