Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 19 of the 48 other CRM tools we grade

Mesh is a personal CRM that assembles a contact card for everyone you have emailed, met or messaged, then keeps those cards current with job changes, location changes and news mentions. Reminders and a Reconnect prompt help you stay in touch, and notes sit on each person's timeline. It is free for up to 1,000 contacts, with paid plans for unlimited contacts and for teams that share a network.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Mesh, taken from its own pages and our grades.

But even the free plan wants a credit card, sign-up drops you into a Pro trial you have to back out of, and there are no deals or pipelines.

The report card

Best for a contact book that keeps itself up to date

Mesh is an address book that fills itself in from email, meetings and messages, and tells you when people change jobs or move city. It's free up to 1,000 contacts, and Pro is $10 a month on yearly billing, $20 monthly. But even the free plan wants a credit card, sign-up drops you into a Pro trial you have to back out of, and there are no deals or pipelines.

ToolGPA report cardMeshGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $10 a month if you pay $120 for the year, which is the going rate for a personal CRM: Dex is $12, Monica $9. What the money buys is mostly unlimited contacts and spreadsheet imports, not new abilities. Pay monthly and it doubles to $20.
Free plan and trialCFree for up to 1,000 contacts, with imports, reminders, Reconnect prompts and unlimited life updates. But it imports everyone you've ever emailed, so 1,000 is a wall you'll meet, and you need a credit card to sign up at all, then have to downgrade out of a Pro trial.
FeaturesCContacts pulled in from email, calendar, texts and social, job and location changes, reminders, Markdown notes and an AI you can ask about your network. It covers that job, but it's a smaller job than a CRM's: no deals, no pipeline, no forecasting, and it isn't trying to have them.
Ease of useC4.4 from about 760 App Store ratings, just under our bar for a B. The idea is that it builds your contact list for you, so there's little to type in. Getting past the credit card and the automatic trial is the fiddly part.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, which covers every main platform. It connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, iMessage, WhatsApp, Notion, Zapier and ChatGPT. The combined Notes view is on Mac, Windows and web only.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Mesh is for

  • Fits if you want an address book that updates itself when people change jobs
  • Works for people who know lots of people and want a nudge to get back in touch

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you won't hand over a credit card for a free plan, because sign-up asks for one
  • Watch out: sign-up starts a 14-day Pro trial, and you have to downgrade yourself to stay free
  • Tight if you stay free, as it imports everyone you've emailed and Personal stops at 1,000 contacts
  • Pricey if you pay monthly, as Pro is $20 a month against $10 on the yearly plan
  • Too light for sales teams that need deals, pipelines and forecasts, and Team stops at 4 seats

Good to know

Good for

  • Individuals who want a contact book that keeps itself up to date
  • People who want a free personal CRM for up to 1,000 contacts
  • Small teams that share contacts and look for warm introductions

Worth knowing

  • The free Personal plan stops at 1,000 contacts and still asks for a credit card at sign-up.
  • Sign-up starts a 14-day Pro trial automatically; you have to downgrade to Personal to stay on the free plan.
  • The Team plan allows up to 4 team members; larger teams and SAML SSO need Enterprise.
  • Paying monthly doubles the Pro price: $20 a month against $10 a month on the annual plan.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Mesh you could make: notes. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It costs $120 a year.

What you could make

  • Notes: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It plugs into other products, Gmail, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.

What this rests on. Mesh’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
