Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 4 of the 34 other SEO browser extensions we grade
OGraph Previewer is a small free Chrome extension that reads the Open Graph tags of the page in the current tab and shows roughly how its link would look when shared on social media. The tag data can be copied for debugging, and because it reads whatever tab is open it works on pages still in development as well as live ones. It is a one-developer project.
To get you started, here are 7 things to know about OGraph Previewer, taken from its own pages and our grades.
No rating on record, but nothing to set up: open a page, click the icon and the preview is there.
- 1
Best for previewing a page's Open Graph tags
OGraph Previewer reads the Open Graph tags on the tab you have open, shows roughly how the link would look when shared and lets you copy the tags, for free, on live or development pages.
- 2
It is free
OGraph Previewer has no paid plan at all. Free to install from the Chrome Web Store, which lists no in-app purchases for it.
- 3

- 4

Copies the Open Graph data found on the page, for debugging or pasting into a ticket.
- 5
Development and live pages
Reads the tab you have open, so it can check pages on a development server before release as well as pages already in production.

The report card
Best for previewing a page's Open Graph tags
OGraph Previewer reads the Open Graph tags on the tab you have open, shows roughly how the link would look when shared and lets you copy the tags, for free, on live or development pages. It covers og tags only, the preview is an approximation rather than what a given network will show, and it hasn't been updated since August 2023.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Free from the Chrome Web Store, which lists no in-app purchases, and there's no paid version. |
| Free plan and trial | A | Free outright: the share preview and tag copying, with no account and nothing held back. |
| Features | D | One narrow function: a preview built from a page's og tags, plus copying them. X (Twitter) cards, schema and other metadata aren't mentioned, and the preview is an approximation. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record, but nothing to set up: open a page, click the icon and the preview is there. The extension is about 17 KB. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Chrome only, so computers only, with no integrations. It reads whatever tab is open, including a page on a development server. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who OGraph Previewer is for
- Fits if you check og tags on a page before it goes live
- Works for marketers checking a link's title, description and image before they share it
Who it is not for
- Too light for social previews beyond Open Graph, as X (Twitter) cards and schema aren't covered
- Watch out: the preview is built from the tags, not the card a given network will actually render
- Skip it if you're not on Chrome, and note the last update was version 2.0.0 in August 2023
- Watch out: it's a one-developer project, and the developer hasn't identified itself as a trader, so EU consumer rights don't apply
Good to know
Good for
- Developers checking og tags before a page goes live
- Marketers confirming how a link will look before sharing it
- Anyone who wants one small tool rather than a full SEO toolbar
Worth knowing
- It covers Open Graph tags only; the listing does not mention X (Twitter) cards, schema or other metadata.
- The preview is an approximation built from the tags, not the card a given network will actually render.
- It is listed for Chrome only and was last updated on August 31, 2023 (version 2.0.0).
- The developer has not identified itself as a trader, so EU consumer rights do not apply, as the store listing notes.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 18 of the 34 other SEO browser extensions grade higher.
What you could make
- Schema markup: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A crawler that checks every page of a site.
