Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 2 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Orderly is a to-do list app for iPhone and iPad from Tekton Technologies. Lists appear as notes laid out in three levels inside folders, and a reminder can be tied to a date and time or to a place. The app costs $1.99 on the App Store, with a one-time $0.99 upgrade for low light mode and a passcode, and a subscription for cloud sync between devices and automatic backup.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Orderly, taken from its own pages and our grades.

There's no Android, web or verified Mac version, and it connects to nothing.

The report card

Best for visual lists with location reminders on iPhone

Orderly lays your to-do lists out like notes on a board, sorted into folders, with reminders by place as well as time, for iPhone and iPad. It's $1.99 with no free version or trial, a passcode and low light mode are another $0.99, and syncing between devices is a subscription on top. There's no Android, web or verified Mac version, and it connects to nothing.

ToolGPA report cardOrderlyGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyA$1.99 once for the app, against about $48 for a year on this category's middle subscription. Even adding the $0.99 passcode and the $6.99 yearly sync plan, you're paying a fraction. Just don't take sync by the month at $2.99.
Free plan and trialFNothing is free. It's a $1.99 download before you've seen a single screen, and the listing mentions no free trial at all.
FeaturesCIt does its small job: lists as notes in three levels, folders with their own icons and notifications, reminders by date, time or place, repeats from daily to yearly, Today and Due views and a searchable archive. But sync, the passcode and low light mode are each sold separately.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: open it and your lists are laid out in front of you, and you drag one to change its priority. Colours, fonts and sizes are there if you want to fiddle.
Platforms and integrationsDOne operating system: iPhone and iPad. The App Store's Mac option is the iPad app, not verified for macOS, there's no Android or web version, and nothing on record connects it to another app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Orderly is for

  • Fits if you want lists laid out like notes rather than one long column
  • Works for errands that should remind you at the shop, not just at a time

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you want to try before you buy, as there's no free version or trial
  • Skip it if you use Android or want your lists on a computer, since it's iPhone and iPad only and the Mac option isn't verified
  • Pricey if you take sync by the month, at $2.99 against $6.99 for a whole year
  • Watch out: sync is a subscription on top of the $1.99 app, and passcode and low light mode are another $0.99
  • Too light for linking to other apps, as there are no integrations on record

Good to know

Good for

  • iPhone and iPad users who like lists laid out visually
  • Errands that should alert at a place, not only at a time
  • Sorting many lists into folders by category

Worth knowing

  • iPhone and iPad only: the App Store marks the Mac option as the iPad app, not verified for macOS, and there is no Android or web version.
  • Syncing between devices needs the Fast Cloud Sync subscription at $2.99 per month or $6.99 per year, on top of the $1.99 app.
  • Low light mode and passcode protection are a separate $0.99 in-app purchase.
  • There is no free version: the app is a $1.99 download before any add-on, and the listing states no free trial.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Orderly for yourself: tasks. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $1.99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Tasks: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.

What this rests on. Orderly’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
