Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 42 of the 79 other project management tools we grade
Plaky is a project management tool from CAKE.com, the company behind Clockify and Pumble. Work is organized as items on boards that can be shown as a table, a kanban board, a chart or a Gantt chart, with custom fields, dashboards and automations. The free plan has no limit on users, boards or items, and the paid plans are priced per seat.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Plaky, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for simple boards for a whole team, free
Plaky is board-based project management from the company behind Clockify and Pumble, with unlimited users, boards and items on the free plan and the Gantt view and automations on Pro at $3.99 a seat.
- 2
Paid plans start at $3.99 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $3.99 per seat / month, billed annually.
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited users, spaces, boards and items, with 6 fields per board, a 7-day activity log, 10 MB per file and dashboards that draw on 1 board each.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Boards, items and fields
Work sits on boards as items sorted into groups, each described by custom fields. The Free plan allows 6 fields per board; paid plans have no limit.
- 6
Table, Kanban, Chart and Gantt views
Table, Kanban and Chart views are on every plan. The Gantt view, the timeline field and several charts in one view start at Pro.
- 7
Dashboards
A dashboard pulls data from boards into one overview: 1 board per dashboard on Free, up to 15 on Pro and up to 30 on Enterprise.
- 8
A 2.6 GPA, above 42 of 79
That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Plaky you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for simple boards for a whole team, free
Plaky is board-based project management from the company behind Clockify and Pumble, with unlimited users, boards and items on the free plan and the Gantt view and automations on Pro at $3.99 a seat. But free boards get 6 fields and a 7-day log, Pro caps automations at 1,000 actions, the only integrations are its sister apps, there's no desktop app, and the vendor doesn't do refunds.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Pro is $3.99 a seat a month billed annually, $4.99 monthly, which sits in the cheapest quarter of this category and brings the Gantt view, private boards, unlimited fields and 1,000 automation actions. Enterprise, for single sign-on and uncapped automations, is $8.99. |
| Free plan and trial | B | Unlimited users, spaces, boards and items with table, Kanban and chart views. The pinches are 6 fields per board, a 7-day activity log, 10 MB per file and no Gantt, automations or private boards. |
| Features | C | Items on boards with custom fields as a table, Kanban board, chart or Gantt, plus dashboards and automations for repeat work. That's the basics, and the listing shows where it stops: no time tracking of its own, dashboards capped at 15 boards on Pro, two integrations in total. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. The industry templates on every plan give you a starting board, but it's still a tool where you build the boards, groups and fields, and on the free plan you get six fields to do it with. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android, with no desktop app. The connections are thin too: Clockify for time tracking and Pumble for chat, both its own siblings, with a bundle seat at $12.99 a month covering all three. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Plaky is for
- Fits if you want a free plan with no limit on users and can work with 6 fields per board
- Works for companies that already use Clockify or Pumble
Who it is not for
- Tight if you're staying free and like lots of columns, with 6 fields per board, a 7-day activity log and 10 MB per file
- Skip it if you want a desktop app, as there's only the web app and the phone apps
- Not for you if you might want your money back, because the vendor states it doesn't offer refunds
- Watch out: every invited user takes a paid seat, Pro caps automations at 1,000 a month, and SSO needs Enterprise at $8.99
- Too light for teams that need integrations beyond Clockify and Pumble, or built-in time tracking
Good to know
Good for
- Teams that want a free plan with no limit on users
- Companies that already use Clockify or Pumble
- Small businesses that track projects on simple boards
Worth knowing
- The Free plan allows 6 fields per board, keeps a 7-day activity log and has no Gantt view, automations or private boards.
- Automations are capped at 1,000 actions a month on Pro; unlimited actions, board permissions and single sign-on need Enterprise.
- Every active or invited user on a paid plan takes a seat, and the vendor states that it does not offer refunds.
- The apps page lists a web app plus iOS and Android apps, with no desktop app.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Plaky you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $47.88 a year.
What you could make
- Kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, tasks, templates and reports: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: roles and permissions.
What this rests on. Plaky’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
