Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 3 of the 15 other browsers we grade
Rambox is a desktop workspace app for Windows, macOS and Linux that gathers web apps into one window instead of a row of browser tabs. Apps stay logged in, several accounts of the same app can run side by side under separate profiles, and notifications can be controlled per app or paused with a focus mode. It ships with more than 700 preloaded apps, and other web-based tools can be added as custom apps.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Rambox, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for running many web apps and accounts side by side
Rambox is one window for your web apps rather than a browser for the open web, so two Gmail accounts, WhatsApp and Telegram sit side by side and stay logged in.
- 2
Paid plans start at $5.83 a month when paid by the year
As its pricing page puts it: $7.00 per month, or $70.00 per year (Pro).
- 3
There is a free plan
Basic, free forever: unlimited preloaded apps with up to 2 instances per app, 2 custom web apps, notifications, focus mode and hibernation, on 1 active session.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Windows, macOS and Linux.
- 5
Workspaces
Apps are grouped into workspaces by client, project or role, with one-click switching between them. Workspaces are part of the Pro plan.
- 6
Multiple accounts per app
Several sessions of the same app, such as Gmail, WhatsApp or Instagram, stay logged in at the same time, each under its own profile.
- 7
Preloaded and custom apps
More than 700 apps are preloaded and added in seconds, and any other web-based tool can be brought in as a custom app.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 3 of 15
That is against the other browsers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Rambox you would be making a web browser. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for running many web apps and accounts side by side
Rambox is one window for your web apps rather than a browser for the open web, so two Gmail accounts, WhatsApp and Telegram sit side by side and stay logged in. Pro is $7 a month. But Workspaces, the feature that keeps it organized, is paid-only, the free plan stops at 2 instances per app and 1 active session, there's no phone app, and Teams starts at 5 users.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Rambox isn't really competing with browsers, so set it against the two apps doing its job: Wavebox at $8.33 a month paid annually and Shift at $19.99. Pro at $7 a month, or $70 a year, costs less than both and covers 3 computers. Workspaces is paid-only, though. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Basic is free forever, and the caps are exactly where it hurts: 2 instances of each app, 2 custom web apps, 1 active session, and no Workspaces, which is the thing that keeps a crowded setup tidy. Three Gmail accounts and you're already over. New accounts get 30 days of Pro, no card. |
| Features | C | For what it is, it covers the job: 700-plus preloaded apps, several accounts of one app each under its own profile, tiles to split the screen, focus mode, per-app alerts, and on Pro a proxy per app and CSS injection. But running web apps in one window is a smaller job than a browser's, and that's the whole of it. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record, but there's genuinely nothing to configure: install the desktop app, add a preloaded app in seconds, sign in as you would anyway, and a quick-search shortcut hops between them. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Desktop only: Windows, Mac and Linux, with no phone app at all, so the setup you build stays at the desk. Any web tool can come in as a custom app, which is the one way it stretches. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

- Tight if you're staying free, with 2 instances per app, 2 custom apps, 1 active session and no workspaces
- Not for you if you need it on your phone, since there's no mobile app listed
- Watch out: extensions, multi-login and the spell checker are Pro only, and Pro covers 3 computers at once
- Tight if you're a small team, as Rambox for Teams starts at 5 users at $14 each

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Rambox you would be making a web browser. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 12 of the 15 other browsers grade higher. It costs $70 a year.
What you could not
- A web browser.
- Control over other apps' windows.
- Apps for macOS, Windows and Linux that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Gmail, WhatsApp and Telegram among them.
What this rests on. Rambox’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
