Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 41 of the 83 other technical SEO tools we grade
Siteliner is a web-based scanner from the makers of Copyscape that crawls a site and reports internal duplicate content, broken links and how strongly each page is linked from the rest of the site. The free scan covers the 250 most prominent pages once a month. Siteliner Premium, billed per page scanned from prepaid credits, scans up to 30,000 pages as often as you like and has an API.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Siteliner, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You type in a site address and the scan runs, with no account and nothing to set up.
- 1
Best for finding text repeated across your own site
Siteliner scans a site for text repeated across its own pages, broken internal links and how well each page is linked, free for 250 pages and with no sign-up.
- 2
There is a free plan

- 4
Internal duplicate content
Shows how much of each page's text also appears on other pages, highlights the matching passages, and leaves out menus and other common content.
- 5

The report card
Best for finding text repeated across your own site
Siteliner scans a site for text repeated across its own pages, broken internal links and how well each page is linked, free for 250 pages and with no sign-up. The free scan runs once every 30 days per site. Beyond that you pay 1¢ a page from prepaid credits, and copies on other sites need Copyscape, a separate service.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Premium has no subscription: each page scanned costs 1¢ from prepaid credits, up to 30,000 pages. A 5,000-page scan is $50, where Spotibo's Lite crawls 5,000 URLs a month for $14. |
| Free plan and trial | C | A free scan of a site's 250 most prominent pages, with no sign-up. But it's once every 30 days per site, so you can't re-check straight after a fix. |
| Features | C | Internal duplicate content with the matching passages highlighted, broken internal links, Page Power scores, skipped-page reports and an XML sitemap. It does that job fully, but it's a smaller job, and duplicates on other websites need Copyscape. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record. You type in a site address and the scan runs, with no account and nothing to set up. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, with no app. Premium has a JSON API, at 1¢ a request for up to 100 rows. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Siteliner is for
- Fits if your site is small and you want to find text repeated across its own pages
- Works for occasional bigger scans paid by the page rather than by the month
Who it is not for
- Tight if you stay free, at 250 pages once every 30 days per site
- Too light for checking copies on other websites, which is Copyscape's job
- Pricey if you scan big sites often, at 1¢ a page, so $300 for a 30,000-page scan
- Watch out: summary reports are kept for 185 days and page reports for 60
Good to know
Good for
- A quick free check of a small site for duplicate text and broken links
- Finding which pages are best linked internally
- Occasional larger scans paid by the page instead of a subscription
Worth knowing
- Siteliner Premium has no subscription: each page scanned costs 1¢, paid from credits bought in advance by card or PayPal.
- The free scan stops at 250 pages and can be run on a site only once every 30 days.
- It checks internal duplicate content only; copies on other websites are the job of Copyscape, a separate service.
- Summary reports are kept for 185 days and highlighted page reports for 60 days.

Keep it

What you could not
- A crawler that checks every page of a site.
- An API that other software can build on.
