Superwhisper converts speech to text in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. The free plan runs local Whisper models entirely on your device, so dictation works offline and audio stays put. Buy Pro on the website, not inside the phone app
Superwhisper's plans page says App Store and Google Play prices are higher because of Apple's and Google's fees, and its 40% student and non-profit discounts can't be used on App Store purchases. One Pro licence then covers unlimited Macs and PCs plus your phones.

Moving to Lifetime? Ask for the rest of your subscription back
Buy Lifetime at its own checkout, then contact support from the same address. Its subscription page says they'll refund the unused part of your monthly or yearly plan, so you don't pay twice for the overlap.

Renewal
The 30-day refund window starts at your first purchase, not each renewal
Monthly, yearly and lifetime plans can be refunded within 30 days of first buying, through a form on its site. A renewal charge on its own isn't refundable, so cancel at superwhisper.com/billing before the date if you're done. App Store and Google Play refunds go through Apple or Google.

Privacy
Every dictation is kept forever unless you change one setting
Superwhisper saves the audio, the transcript and the AI result of each dictation. Keep recordings for, in Settings, Configuration, starts at Forever. Set it to anything from 1 day to 1 year and older ones are deleted for you. On a Mac they sit in ~/superwhisper/recordings.

Setting
Your music pauses every time you dictate, unless you change it
Sound while recording starts on Pause. In Settings, Sound you can pick Keep Playing, Mute, Lower or Muffle, which keeps the beat under your voice on macOS 14.2 or later. Silence Removal, in the same place, helps stop made-up text during quiet bits.

Shortcut
Option+Space starts dictation, and Option+Shift+K changes mode
Those are the Mac defaults in Settings, Configuration. Push to Talk can go on its own key, and a mouse button works too. Each mode can also have its own shortcut, so if one starts the wrong mode, check it isn't set in both places.

Easy to miss
Run an old dictation through a different mode
Open it in History, click the reprocess icon and pick a mode. That's how you turn a rambling note into an email without saying it all again, or retry one that failed. Search in History only looks at what you said, not the AI's version.

Cancelling is two clicks in the billing portal, and your modes, vocabulary and history sit on your own machine either way. The one real catch is that the window runs from your first purchase, so a renewal is not separately refundable.

The refund policy gives a 30-day window from the date of first purchase, meaning the subscription start date or the lifetime purchase date, and says all sales are final after it. A purchase qualifies if it was made on superwhisper.com, has not already been refunded and the licence has not been terminated for breaking the terms. You fill in a form, confirm by an emailed link, and an eligible refund is automatic.

A subscription bought in the iOS App Store or on Google Play is cancelled in that store instead, and Superwhisper says it cannot see or change those. An Enterprise trial is cancelled by the organisation's admin in the Enterprise dashboard.

One address to write to, a tidy documentation site and a Discord the team runs. That is a reasonable set for a small app, but nowhere does Superwhisper say when anyone is at the desk or how quickly you can expect an answer, and free users are not promised anything different from Pro ones. No stated hours and no stated reply time puts it at a C.

The troubleshooting page tells you to write to the support address with your platform, app version and what you expected to happen if your problem is not among the listed guides. The same address handles invoices, discount requests and declined refunds.
