Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 4 of the 18 other course and community platforms we grade
Teachery is a course platform from a small, founder-run company that has sold it since 2013. One plan includes every feature, with unlimited courses, customers, membership hubs and custom domains, and no transaction fee on sales. A redesigned Teachery 4.0, with fuller communities, customer tags and an optional AI assistant, is announced for October 20, 2026.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Teachery, taken from its own pages and our grades.
The editor autosaves and there are style files and Canva templates, but you're still designing pages and a checkout.

The report card
Best for a course that looks like your brand, at one price
Teachery is one plan with everything: unlimited courses, students and custom domains, no fee on sales, and a lot of design control. It's $470 a year, about $39 a month. It's a course builder and not much more, though: no real community yet, no quizzes or built-in email in the listing, and a redesign, Teachery 4.0, is due on October 20.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | $470 a year, about $39 a month, with every feature and no fee on sales, so $2,000 of sales costs $39 a month: the middle of this category. There's also a $950 lifetime deal, about two years of the yearly plan, marked limited time. |
| Free plan and trial | C | No free plan, but a 14-day free trial, and the listing doesn't say it needs a card. With one plan, there's nothing cheaper to start on. |
| Features | C | Lessons with embeds, drip or completion unlocking, hubs for memberships and coaching, deep design control, sales pages with upsells and bundles, and affiliates. It does the course job, but the listing shows no quizzes, no built-in email and only lesson comments for community. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. The editor autosaves and there are style files and Canva templates, but you're still designing pages and a checkout. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, with Zapier, Make, Pabbly Connect, Canva, Kit, Mailchimp, MailerLite and Flodesk. No mobile apps: students take courses in a browser. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Teachery is for
- Great if you're an artist or designer and want the course to look like your brand
- Handy when you want one flat price, no tiers and no fee on sales
- Good for designers building course hubs for several clients
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you need quizzes or a proper community, which the listing doesn't show
- Not for you if you want email marketing built in, as it connects to Kit or Mailchimp instead
- Tight if you want a cheap first plan, since the only one is $49 a month or $470 a year
Good to know
Good for

- No mobile apps are listed; students take courses in a browser.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Teachery you would be making a builder that other people can use without writing code. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 11 of the 18 other course and community platforms grade higher. It costs $588 a year.
What you could make
- Online courses and templates: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- It plugs into other products, Zapier, Make and Pabbly Connect among them.
- People on the other end: coaches. No app builder makes those.
What this rests on. Teachery’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
