Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.4

GPA, above 117 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

TickTick is a to-do list app that also includes a calendar, a habit tracker, a Pomodoro timer and countdowns for important dates. Lists can be viewed as a plain list, a kanban board, a timeline or an Eisenhower matrix, and can be shared so that tasks are assigned to other people. The free plan syncs across devices; Premium raises the limits and adds the full set of calendar views.

To get you started, here are 10 things to know about TickTick, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Dates and times are recognized as you type, so adding a task doesn't mean filling in a form.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for tasks, habits and a focus timer in one app

TickTick is a to-do list with a calendar, a habit tracker and a Pomodoro timer built in, on every platform including Linux.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $4.17 a month when paid by the year

As its pricing page puts it: $49.99 per year (about $4.17 per month).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

9 lists, 99 tasks per list, 5 habits, 2 reminders per task and 1 attachment per day, with list and kanban views, a basic calendar view and sync across devices.

Web, macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

  6. 6

    Calendar views

Yearly, monthly, weekly, multi-day, multi-week and agenda views show tasks alongside subscribed calendars. The free plan has a basic calendar view; Premium lists multiple views.

  7. 7

    Kanban, timeline and matrix

A list can be shown as a kanban board, as a timeline for tasks that have a duration, or as an Eisenhower matrix that sorts tasks by urgency and importance.

  8. 8

    Refunds: 14 days

Buy Premium on the web, through Stripe, PayPal or Google Play, and you have 14 days to ask for the money back, from a button in your own order history, with TickTick saying it will process the refund in three business days. You cancel yourself in the settings and your data stays put when Premium lapses.

That is against the other to-do list apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

    Keep it

The plain part of TickTick you could make: tasks, natural-language input, calendar, kanban boards, Pomodoro timer and habit tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card

Best for tasks, habits and a focus timer in one app

TickTick is a to-do list with a calendar, a habit tracker and a Pomodoro timer built in, on every platform including Linux. But the free plan stops at 9 lists, 99 tasks a list, 5 habits and 1 attachment a day, the full calendar views are Premium at $49.99 a year, the site sells Premium by the year only, and location reminders are iOS only. Shared lists stop at 2 members unless you pay.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPremium is $49.99 a year, about $4.17 a month, which sits in the middle of what this category charges rather than below it. It buys 299 lists, multiple calendar views, task durations and 299 habits. The site sells it by the year only; the App Store also lists $4.99 monthly.
Free plan and trialBFree for good, with sync across devices, list and kanban views and a basic calendar. 9 lists and 99 tasks a list is enough that one person could really live here, though 5 habits, 2 reminders a task and 1 attachment a day are tighter.
FeaturesAType a task and it picks out the date, or just say it out loud. Show a list as a board, a timeline or an Eisenhower matrix. Then the calendar, the habit tracker, the Pomodoro timer and shared lists with tasks assigned. It covers the whole job and bundles three things rivals sell separately.
Ease of useA4.9 from 46,196 App Store ratings. Dates and times are recognized as you type, so adding a task doesn't mean filling in a form.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, and it connects to Notion and Google Calendar. One catch: location-based reminders are listed as iOS only.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who TickTick is for

  • Fits if you want tasks, habits and a focus timer in one app, not three
  • Works for people who move between Windows, Mac, Linux and a phone and want the same lists on all of them

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, with 9 lists, 99 tasks a list, 5 habits, 2 reminders a task and 1 attachment a day
  • Not for you if you want every calendar view, task durations or email reminders without paying
  • Skip it if you share a list with a crowd, since it's 2 members on free and 29 on Premium
  • Watch out: the site sells Premium only at $49.99 a year, and the $4.99 monthly option is on the App Store
  • Watch out: location-based reminders are listed as iOS only

Good to know

  • Keeping the same lists on Windows, Mac, Linux, phones and the web

Part 02 · Tips

Insider tips

What most people miss: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches

7

Things most people miss, each from its own help pages

The things about TickTick that are easy to miss until they cost you: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches at renewal or when you leave. Each one is from TickTick’s own pages, linked beside it.

Read on Oct 17, 2026. Read from TickTick's help centre (payment and upgrades, adding tasks, constant reminders, smart recognition, backups and deleting an account) on 17 October 2026. Not tried out: these tips are what its own pages say.

  1. 1

    Renewal

Want a refund? Don't ask for an invoice first

Paid through Google Play, PayPal or Stripe? You can ask for a refund within 14 days, from Settings, Premium Account, Order History, and TickTick says it handles them within 3 business days. But orders with invoices can't be refunded. App Store refunds go through Apple.

    help.ticktick.com
  2. 2

    Renewal

TickTick can't cancel an App Store subscription for you

App Store plans renew by default and Apple won't let TickTick stop them, so cancel in your Apple ID's subscriptions. For Google Play, Stripe or PayPal, use Settings, Premium Account, Cancel Subscription on the web, and check the confirmation window shows up.

    help.ticktick.com
  3. 3

    Shortcut

Shift+Alt+A adds a task from anywhere on your computer

That's TickTick's global add shortcut on Windows and Mac, and it pops up the task bar over whatever you're doing. While you're typing a task, Shift+Enter adds a description and Command+Enter saves it.

    help.ticktick.com
  4. 4

    Setting

Preset the list, date and priority every new task gets

Go to Settings, General, Task Default. If Smart Recognition grabs a word you didn't mean as a date, press Delete or click the highlighted time to undo it. Or switch Smart Date Parsing off under Settings, General, Smart Recognition.

    help.ticktick.com
  5. 5

    Easy to miss

Constant Reminder rings through Silent mode on newer iPhones

Switch on Constant Reminder for a task and it keeps going until you act. On iOS 26 and later, with alarm permission, it uses the system alarm and rings even in Silent mode or Do Not Disturb. On Android it alerts 30 seconds on, 30 off, for 5 minutes.

    help.ticktick.com
  6. 6

    Setting

Auto-import from Reminders deletes the originals

On iPhone, Auto-import from Reminders lets you say "remind me to..." to Siri and have it land in TickTick. But each time TickTick opens, it pulls in your default Reminders list and deletes those tasks from Reminders. Skip it if anyone else uses that list.

    help.ticktick.com
  7. 7

    Leaving

A deleted account sits in TickTick's backups for 90 days

Its help page says personal information stays in backup archives for 90 days after you delete your account, and subscription and transaction records are kept even after that. Want a copy first? Back up on the web, then delete from Settings, Account, Manage Account.

TickTick's GPA of 3.4 is higher than 117 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade, and level with 4.

It stands best on features (A, above 120 of 123) and worst on value for money (C, above 13).

Its paid plans start at $4.17 a month when paid by the year, against a middle price of $3 for the category: 46 of the 68 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of TickTick you could make: tasks, natural-language input, calendar, kanban boards, Pomodoro timer and habit tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.4 is higher than 117 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade. It costs $49.99 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, natural-language input, calendar, kanban boards, Pomodoro timer and habit tracking: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
  • The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. TickTick’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.

Refunds and cancelling

BGrade

Good · checked Oct 18, 2026

Buy Premium on the web, through Stripe, PayPal or Google Play, and you have 14 days to ask for the money back, from a button in your own order history, with TickTick saying it will process the refund in three business days. You cancel yourself in the settings and your data stays put when Premium lapses. It is a B rather than an A because the window is 14 days, not 30, and an invoice or an App Store purchase takes it away.

Refund window
14 days
How you cancel
Yourself, in settings
Getting your money back

TickTick says a Premium subscription bought through Google Play, PayPal or Stripe can be refunded within 14 days of payment, and that no refund can be issued beyond 14 days. You submit the request yourself from Order History in the Premium Account settings, and it says the refund is processed within three business days. Orders that have had an invoice issued cannot be refunded, and App Store purchases go to Apple.

Stated on help.ticktick.com
How to cancel TickTick

A subscription taken through Google Play, Stripe or PayPal is cancelled in the TickTick web app, under Settings and then the Premium Account tab, and TickTick says to check for the confirmation window. It can also be cancelled on Google Play or in PayPal directly. An App Store subscription must be cancelled in Apple's subscription settings, which TickTick says it cannot do for you.

  1. Open the TickTick web app and click your profile at the top left, then Settings
  2. Click the Premium Account tab
  3. Click Cancel Subscription
  4. Confirm by clicking Yes, cancel
  5. Check that the confirmation window appears, and repeat the steps if it does not
Stated on help.ticktick.com
What you keep afterwards

TickTick says that after a Premium account expires your data is fully retained: you can keep using TickTick as a free account, without the Premium benefits. A separate FAQ says an account can be deleted from the account information page in Settings, and that data can be backed up and imported into another account first.

Stated on help.ticktick.com
Renewals

The help article treats cancelling as the way to stop Premium auto-renewing, and says App Store subscriptions renew by default and have to be cancelled by you because Apple does not let the developer do it. None of the pages read promises a reminder before a renewal, and the 14-day refund window runs from the payment, so a renewal you noticed late may still be inside it.

Stated on help.ticktick.com

In your favour

  • Fourteen days to change your mind, and you file the claim yourself from your order history.
  • TickTick says a refund is processed within three business days, which is more than most promise.
  • Cancelling is four clicks in the web app's settings, with nobody to write to.
  • Let Premium lapse and nothing is deleted: the account carries on as a free one with your data.

Watch out for

  • Fourteen days is the whole window, and TickTick says nothing comes back after it.
  • Ask for an invoice on an order and that order can no longer be refunded.
  • Bought Premium in the App Store? Apple decides the refund, and TickTick says it cannot.
  • Nothing promises a warning before the subscription renews, so the 14 days can pass unnoticed.

Customer support

A ticket form, an address to write to and a well-stocked help centre, and that is the lot. No live chat, no phone, and no page that says when the team works or how fast it aims to reply. TickTick will tell you how long a refund takes but not how long a question waits. That is where most apps at this price sit, so a C.

Ways to get help

  • Email

The About page invites anyone to write to the team to ask about TickTick or share feedback, and the pricing page's FAQ gives the same address next to a link to the help centre.

  • Contact form or ticket

In your favour

  • There are three ways in: a ticket, an address to write to and Help & Feedback inside the app.
  • The help centre is open to anyone and walks through refunds, cancelling and invoices step by step.

Watch out for

  • No page states support hours or how quickly TickTick aims to reply.
  • No live chat and no phone line are offered.
  • You have to sign in before the ticket form will open.
  • No page says that paying for Premium gets your question answered any sooner.

What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: TickTick's help article on payment and upgrades, which covers cancelling, refunds and invoices, its general FAQ, its terms of service, the pricing page's own questions and answers, the help centre, the About page and the contact page.
