The report card
Best for time-blocking your day on your phone
TimeBloc is a phone app for planning in blocks, gym at 7, deep work at 9, lunch at 1, each a colored slab on a timeline, with routines that drop themselves into the day. A year of Premium is listed at $26.49. But it's phones only with no integrations, the App Store shows other prices without saying what term they cover, and the Android app was last updated in September 2025.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | The clearly labeled routes: a year of Premium at $26.49, about $2.21 a month, or Lifetime at $19.99 once, against the $6 a month a typical planner asks. But the App Store also shows $39.99 and $59.99 with no term on them, and the site has no price list, so you can't be sure what you'd pay. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free gets you the timeline, routines, calendar import and notifications, but unlimited routines and unlimited calendars are Premium and the listings never say how many you get before that. Statistics and advanced notifications are Premium too. |
| Features | C | Time blocking is the one job here and TimeBloc does it fully: blocks by the hour or the minute, icons and coloured tags, drag to reschedule, routines that fill themselves in, calendar import, widgets and stats. A smaller job than a planner that also carries tasks and due dates, and nothing else connects. |
| Ease of use | C | 4.3 from about 7,400 App Store ratings, short of the 10,000 we'd want behind a 4.3. You move a block by dragging it along the timeline. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | iPhone and Android, and nothing else: no web, no desktop, no integrations on record. The Google Play listing also shows the Android app was last updated on 23 September 2025. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who TimeBloc is for
- Fits if you plan your day as back-to-back blocks on your phone
- Works for mornings and evenings that repeat, as routines drop into the timeline
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you plan at a desk, because there's no web or desktop version
- Not for you if you want clear pricing, as the App Store labels the term for only one Premium price
- Too light for people who want a full task manager with projects and due dates
- Tight if you're staying free, since unlimited routines and calendars are Premium and the free caps aren't stated
- Watch out: the Android app was last updated on September 23, 2025, and no integrations are on record
Good to know
Good for
- People who plan a day as back-to-back time blocks on their phone
- Daily routines that should fill into the schedule on their own
- iPhone users who want the next block on the Home or Lock Screen
Worth knowing
- Phone app only: the listings cover iPhone and Android, and there is no web or desktop version.
- Unlimited routines, unlimited calendars, advanced notifications and statistics all require TimeBloc Premium.
- The website has no price list. The US App Store shows several Premium price points and labels the term for only one of them.
- The Google Play listing shows the Android app was last updated on Sep 23, 2025.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A daily planner at its plainest is today's tasks laid along a timeline.
You could make the core of TimeBloc for yourself: time blocking, calendar and tasks. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call.
What you could make
- Time blocking, calendar and tasks: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets and the lock screen.
What this rests on. TimeBloc’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
