Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 13 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade
tl;dv records, transcribes and summarizes meetings on Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Its notetaker joins as a visible participant, or the Mac and Windows desktop app records from system audio with no bot. The free plan includes unlimited recordings and transcripts with a monthly cap on AI notes, and paid plans add CRM sync, coaching and reporting for teams. It is built by a German company and hosts data in the EU.
To get you started, here are 10 things to know about tl;dv, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for free recordings and transcripts of video calls
tl;dv records the video as well as the notes on Zoom, Meet and Teams, and the free plan doesn't cap recordings or transcripts.
- 2
Paid plans start at $18 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $18 per seat / month, billed annually.
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited recordings and transcription, AI notes for 10 meetings a month, 10 Ask AI queries and 5 uploads, with data kept for up to 3 months.
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Recording with or without a bot
The notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls as a visible participant. The desktop app for Mac and Windows records from system audio instead, with no bot in the call.
- 6
Transcripts in 30+ languages
Transcribes with automatic speaker recognition in more than 30 languages. Business adds premium transcription with multi-language support and custom vocabulary.
- 7
AI notes and templates
Summarizes each meeting into notes. Free covers 10 meetings a month; Pro lifts the limit and adds custom note templates, action item assignment and follow-up email drafts.
- 8
Refunds: no set window
The terms are one line long on this: fees paid are non-refundable unless something else was agreed. Against that, leaving is easy.
- 9
A 2.4 GPA, above 13 of 48
That is against the other AI meeting note takers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 10
Keep it
To replace tl;dv you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for free recordings and transcripts of video calls
tl;dv records the video as well as the notes on Zoom, Meet and Teams, and the free plan doesn't cap recordings or transcripts. The AI does have caps: free stops AI notes at 10 meetings a month with 10 Ask AI questions and 5 uploads, and keeps data for 3 months at most. Pro is $18 a seat a month on the yearly plan and $29 monthly, and playbooks, coaching and reports wait for Business at $29 a seat.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Pro is $18 a seat a month on the yearly plan and $29 if you pay monthly, when meeting notes here typically start near $10. And the parts people buy it for — unlimited Ask AI across meetings, playbooks, coaching and scheduled reports — are Business at $29 a seat. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Recordings and transcripts are unlimited. But AI notes stop at 10 meetings a month, you get 10 Ask AI questions and 5 uploads, and your data is kept for up to 3 months, so these are caps you'll run into. |
| Features | B | It covers the job: a visible notetaker on Zoom, Meet and Teams or bot-free recording through the Mac and Windows app, transcripts in 30+ languages with speakers recognised, AI notes, questions answered from the transcript, and clips of any moment to share. Templates, CRM sync and coaching sit behind Pro or Business. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record, and the notetaker doesn't turn up by itself: you connect your calendar and meeting accounts first, install the desktop app if you'd rather record with no bot, and build templates and CRM mappings on the paid plans. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, with Slack, HubSpot, Notion and Zapier, plus an API and webhooks on Pro. Two catches: the extension covers Google Meet only, and phone recordings stop at 3 hours each. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who tl;dv is for
- Fits if you want the video of a call kept, not only the notes
- Works for companies that want a vendor hosting data in the EU
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you pay monthly, at $29 a seat for Pro against $18 on the yearly plan
- Tight if you stay free: AI notes for 10 meetings a month, 10 Ask AI questions, 5 uploads and data kept up to 3 months
- Skip it if you need playbooks, coaching, scheduled reports or Ask AI across meetings, which need Business at $29 a seat
- Watch out: the Chrome extension covers Google Meet only, and phone recordings stop at 3 hours each
- Not for you if you need SCIM, custom SSO or privately hosted AI, which are Enterprise only at an unpublished price

- The Chrome extension covers Google Meet only, and mobile recordings are limited to 3 hours each.

Part 04 · Standing
Where it stands
Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own
13/48
Other AI meeting note takers it is graded above
tl;dv's GPA of 2.4 is higher than 13 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade, and level with 9.
It stands best on platforms and integrations (A, above 30 of 48) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).
Its paid plans start at $18 a month for each person, against a middle price of $10 for the category: 39 of the 47 others that charge start lower.
On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 3.0 out of 4. 17 tools score higher and cost less.

Every bar is all 49 AI meeting note takers we grade, cut by the letter each got. tl;dv’s own letter is outlined.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace tl;dv you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 26 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers grade higher. It costs $216 a year.
What you could make
- Templates: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
- An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
- Speech turned into text you can trust.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams among them, and has an API.
- People on the other end: coaches. No app builder makes those.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. tl;dv’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
Part 05 · Refunds
After you pay
Getting your money back, getting out, and getting help
What happens once you have paid: whether you can get your money back, how to leave, and how to reach a person when something goes wrong. Each is graded from tl;dv’s own terms and help pages.
Refunds and cancelling
Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026
The terms are one line long on this: fees paid are non-refundable unless something else was agreed. Against that, leaving is easy. Two clicks in Account & Billing drop you into the Stripe portal, where you cancel or pause the plan, and nobody has to be emailed. No refunds plus a self-serve exit is the ordinary deal, so a C. What is missing is any page saying plans renew by themselves or that access runs to the end of the period you paid for.
- Refund window
- No set window
- How you cancel
- Yourself, in settings
- Getting your money back
The terms of service say that if you sign up for a paid service you are charged the fees current at the time, and that unless otherwise agreed all fees paid are non-refundable. They give no window, no exception and no process for asking, and no separate refund policy was found on the site.
Stated on tldv.io- How to cancel tl;dv
The help centre says you cancel from Settings, then Plan & Billing (the older article calls it Account & Billing), by clicking Manage subscription, which hands you to Stripe, where you click Cancel or pause plan. The terms separately say you are free to stop using the service at any time by writing in, but the help article is the route it gives for ending a paid plan.
- Open Settings, then Plan & Billing
- Click Manage subscription
- You are redirected to Stripe, tl;dv's payment provider
- Click Cancel or pause plan
- What you keep afterwards
No page read says whether paid features run to the end of the period already paid for. On the recordings themselves, the help centre says Pro recordings stay on its servers for as long as you stay a customer, while on the Free plan recordings are kept 3 months and then scheduled for deletion, with an email 4 weeks beforehand and downloads switched on for the affected recordings.
Stated on intercom.help- Renewals
Its pages do not say.
In your favour
- You cancel it yourself through the Stripe portal, with nobody to write to and no notice to give.
- The same portal offers pausing the plan as well as cancelling it.
- Before recordings are deleted on the free plan, tl;dv says it emails you 4 weeks ahead and turns downloads on.
- Deleting the account and all its data is a button on your own profile page.
Watch out for
- The terms say fees are non-refundable, with no window and no stated exception.
- No page we could read says plans renew by themselves, or promises a reminder before one.
- No page says you keep the paid features to the end of a period you have already paid for.
- Drop to the free plan and the Account & Billing section disappears, so old invoices have to be requested.
Customer support
Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026
There's a chat widget in the bottom corner of the app that the help articles keep pointing you at, an address to write to when something breaks, and a help centre with a few hundred articles behind it. What there isn't is a promise: no hours, no target reply time, no phone, and nothing on the pages we could read about priority for bigger plans. That is where most software sits, and it's a C.
Ways to get help
Email
A troubleshooting article asks you to send a screenshot of the full page, including any browser error and the console data, to the support team's address so they can review it. The terms give the same route for stopping use of the service.
Stated on intercom.helpHelp inside the app
Help articles point repeatedly to a chat icon in the bottom-right corner of the page, described as the way to reach the support team. No page read gives its hours or says whether a bot answers first.
Stated on intercom.helpHelp centre
An Intercom-hosted help centre with collections on the basics, meetings, billing, preferences, integrations, team management and the API, open without signing in.
Stated on intercom.help
Not listed on tl;dv’s pages: live chat, phone.
- When people answer
Its pages do not say.
- How fast it says it replies
Its pages do not say.
- What depends on your plan
Its pages do not say.
In your favour
- Free users get the same chat widget and the same help centre as anyone paying.
- Billing articles are written by a co-founder and give the clicks rather than waving at settings.
- The help centre is organised by collection, with a section just for billing.
Watch out for
- No page states support hours, so you cannot tell when anyone is at the other end.
- No page states a target reply time, on any plan.
- There is no phone number anywhere on the pages we read.
- No page we could read says whether paid plans get priority over free ones.
What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: tl;dv's terms of service, its help articles on cancelling a Pro subscription, on stopping tl;dv altogether, on invoices and billing, on how long recordings are kept and on its pricing, plus the help centre home and its billing collection. The plan comparison on the pricing page did not render for our reader. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted its support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
