Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 4 of the 15 other field service apps we grade
Tradify is job management software for trade businesses such as electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors, made by a New Zealand company that is part of the Access Group. It handles enquiries, quotes, scheduling, timesheets, job costing and invoicing, with apps for iOS and Android. It is sold per user in three plans, with AI tools for bills and writing on the top one.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Tradify, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Quotes, the scheduler and your Xero or QuickBooks link all need setting up before it pays off, which is ordinary for this category.
- 1
Best for trades that quote first and use Xero
Tradify is a tidy quote-to-invoice system for electricians, plumbers and HVAC firms, with a neat way to hand work to subcontractors.
- 2
Paid plans start at $47 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: $47 per user / month.
- 3
You can try it first
14-day free trial with all features, no credit card required
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Quotes and invoices
Build quotes and invoices with material markups. Pro adds quote options that customers accept online, deposits and progress invoices, and automatic reminders.
- 6
Scheduling and subcontractors
A scheduler syncs with Google Calendar. Pro sends customers appointment reminders and lets you give subcontractors work through a free, limited version of the app.
- 7
Timesheets and job costing
From Pro, staff log time against jobs and you record supplier bills, so costs flow onto invoices and you can see what each job made.
- 8
A 2.2 GPA, above 4 of 15
That is against the other field service apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
The plain part of Tradify you could make: job scheduling, quotes and estimates, invoicing and time tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card
Best for trades that quote first and use Xero
Tradify is a tidy quote-to-invoice system for electricians, plumbers and HVAC firms, with a neat way to hand work to subcontractors. It's priced per user, though, so a crew of three pays $141 a month on Lite, and timesheets and job costing only come with Pro at $51 a user.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | $47 per user a month on Lite, so three of you pay $141 a month, and the bill grows with every login. That sits in the middle for this category. Timesheets and job costing need Pro, which is $51 a user. |
| Free plan and trial | C | A 14-day trial with all features and no card needed. No free plan, so after two weeks you're paying for every user. |
| Features | C | Quotes with markups, a scheduler that syncs with Google Calendar, invoices, card payments and subcontractor jobs, plus timesheets and job costing on Pro. The gap: nothing in its listing shows online booking, live staff locations or route planning. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record for it. Quotes, the scheduler and your Xero or QuickBooks link all need setting up before it pays off, which is ordinary for this category. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone and Android, linked to Xero, QuickBooks Online, Stripe and Google Calendar. That's a short list, and there's no desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Tradify is for
- Great if you're an electrician or plumber who quotes every job before starting
- Handy when you hand some of the work to subcontractors
- Good for small teams already keeping the books in Xero or QuickBooks Online
Who it is not for
- Pricey if your crew keeps growing, since every user adds $47 or more a month
- Skip it if your accounts live anywhere but Xero or QuickBooks Online, the only two it syncs with
- Tight if you need timesheets and job costing, which start on Pro at $51 a user
Good to know
Good for
- Electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors who quote before they work
- Small trade teams that use Xero or QuickBooks Online
- Businesses that hand work to subcontractors
Worth knowing
- Every plan is priced per user, so the bill grows with each staff member who logs in.
- Timesheets, job costing, recurring jobs and progress invoicing need Pro; AI tools, purchase orders and reports need Plus.
- There is no free plan; an Instant Website is an add-on at $12 a month on any plan.
- Accounting sync is listed for Xero and QuickBooks Online only.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Tradify you could make: job scheduling, quotes and estimates, invoicing and time tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 10 of the 15 other field service apps grade higher. It costs $564 a year.
What you could make
- Job scheduling, quotes and estimates, invoicing and time tracking: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Tradify’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
