Best for turning spreadsheet rows into importable pages

Typemat turns the rows of a public Google Sheet into pages from a template, and exports an XML file for WordPress, Wix or Squarespace. A lifetime license is $57 once. It doesn't write any text for you or publish anything: you import the file yourself.

Who Typemat is for

  • Fits if you're building location or directory pages from a spreadsheet you already keep
  • Makes sense if you want programmatic pages without a monthly bill, for a one-time $57

Who Typemat is not for

  • Skip it if you want text written for you, as there's no AI writing and every word comes from your template and sheet
  • Watch out: it doesn't publish to your site, so you upload the XML file through your CMS's own import tool
  • Tight if you're staying free, as free builds stop at 5 pages
  • Watch out: the sheet has to be public, and buying the license means signing in with a Google account

Why Typemat gets a 2.2

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • AValue for money$57 paid once for unlimited pages, builds and sites, with no renewal. That's far less than a year of this category's middle subscription at $45 a month.
  • CFree plan and trialUnlimited free builds with no account, but each stops at 5 pages, and programmatic pages usually mean hundreds.
  • DFeaturesOne narrow function: map sheet columns to titles, slugs, categories and tags, fill a template with {{ variable }} placeholders and export XML. There's no AI writing, no keyword research and no publishing, so it needs your CMS's import tool to be useful.
  • CEase of useNo rating on record. Nothing to install and no account to start, but the work is building the template and mapping columns yourself, then importing the file.
  • CPlatforms and integrationsWeb only. It reads a public Google Sheet and writes a file you import by hand into WordPress, Wix or Squarespace; nothing connects to your site directly, and there's no API on record.

Keep Typemat, or make your own?

Your call

You could make the core of Typemat for yourself: templates.

What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $57, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Templates: an app builder makes this well.
  • It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.

What you could not

  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Sheets, WordPress and Wix among them.

What this rests on. Typemat’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.

What is Typemat?

Typemat is a programmatic SEO tool from Scrapezy that turns the rows of a public Google Sheet into pages, using a template with variables, and exports them as an XML file to import into WordPress, Wix or Squarespace. It can be tried without an account; free builds stop at 5 pages, and a one-time $57 license unlocks unlimited pages and saved builds.

Worth knowing

  • It does not publish to your site; you upload the XML file through the CMS's own import tool.
  • There is no AI writing: page text comes from your template and the sheet's data.
  • The sheet has to be public, and free builds stop at 5 pages.
  • Buying the lifetime license requires signing in with a Google account.

Key features

Google Sheets as the data source
Paste the URL of a public Google Sheet; its data is fetched again each time you open the build, so edits to the sheet carry through.
Column mapping
Map sheet columns to each post's title, excerpt, slug, nested categories and tags; a city column as the slug gives pages such as /rome and /paris.
Templates with variables
Write the page body in plain text or HTML and drop in {{ variable }} placeholders that fill from each row.
XML export for WordPress, Wix and Squarespace
Exports a file for each platform's import tool, with test exports of 1, 5 or 10 posts and splitting into files of 100 to 5,000 posts.
