Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.0
GPA, above 0 of the 9 other AI voice generators we grade
WellSaid is a text-to-speech studio for business voiceovers, such as training, marketing and product videos. Its 280+ voices are modeled on recordings from voice actors who gave written consent, and users cannot clone voices themselves. Paid plans allow unlimited generation and meter the minutes of finished audio you download.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about WellSaid, taken from its own pages and our grades.
It's a web studio where the work is the voiceover itself: script, voice, pronunciation fixes, clip by clip.

The report card
Best for English voiceovers from licensed actor voices
WellSaid is a voiceover studio for business videos, with 280+ voices built from actors who gave consent and are paid when their voice is used. On paid plans you can regenerate as often as you like and only the minutes you download count. But it's English only unless you're on Enterprise, there's no cloning at all, and an hour a month means the $33 plan.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | An hour a month needs Pro: $33 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 2,160 download minutes a year. Starter at $10 gives 240 minutes a year, which falls short. Generation is unlimited and only downloads count, but $33 is among the dearest in this category. |
| Free plan and trial | C | The Trial plan is free with no card: 3 download minutes a month, 10 minutes of generation and 3 projects. The audio can't be used commercially, so it's for hearing the voices, not for a video you'll publish. |
| Features | C | 280+ actor voices, tone and pitch controls, pronunciation help, caption files with every clip, a team workspace and an API. The gaps: self-serve plans are English only, translation is Enterprise, and you can't clone a voice, not even your own. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. It's a web studio where the work is the voiceover itself: script, voice, pronunciation fixes, clip by clip. A normal amount to learn. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, with an API and add-ons for Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Express. It's a short list, and there's no desktop or phone app, so a B is the ceiling. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who WellSaid is for
- Great if you voice corporate training and want actors who consented and get paid
- Handy when you redo lines a lot, since only downloads use your minutes
- Good for small teams on Business who share voices and pronunciations
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you need Spanish, French or Japanese, which are Enterprise-only
- Not for you if you want to clone your own voice
- Pricey if you need an hour a month, as that's Pro at $33 billed yearly
Good to know
Good for
- Corporate training and e-learning voiceovers
- Marketing and product videos that need commercial rights
- Teams that want voices from consenting, paid actors
Worth knowing
- Self-serve plans include English voices only; Spanish, French, Japanese and other languages, and translation, are limited to Enterprise.
- Users cannot clone a voice, their own included; every voice comes from WellSaid's licensed actors.
- The free plan's 3 download minutes a month carry no commercial rights; full commercial rights start on Starter.
- Business is billed annually only and sold for up to 5 seats; more seats, SSO and SOC 2 reports need Enterprise.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace WellSaid you would be making a voice model, which you can rent by the minute but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 8 of the 9 other AI voice generators grade higher. It costs $120 a year.
What you could not
- A voice model, which you can rent by the minute but not make.
- It plugs into other products, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Express among them, and has an API.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: roles and permissions.
What this rests on. WellSaid’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
