Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 6 of the 15 other email verification and deliverability tools we grade
ZeroBounce is mainly a list cleaner: it checks addresses in bulk or through an API, flags spam traps, abuse and catch-all addresses, and can score each one for quality with AI. Its ZeroBounce ONE subscription also covers the other two jobs in a small way, with warm-up seeds, inbox placement tests and DMARC monitoring for one domain. Credits come as pay-as-you-go packs or a monthly allowance.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about ZeroBounce, taken from its own pages and our grades.
The core job needs nothing set up: upload a list and download it cleaned.
- 1
Best for list cleaning with warm-up and DMARC on one bill
If all you need is a clean list, cheaper tools do that part.
- 2
What it costs
Paid plans start at $39 one-time for 2,000 verification credits.
- 3
There is a free plan
Freemium: 100 verification credits a month for sign-ups with a business email domain, plus 1 inbox test, 1 server test, 1 blacklist monitor and 10 Email Finder searches. No warm-up or DMARC.
- 4
It runs on 2 platforms
Web and iOS.
- 5
Email validation
Checks lists by file upload or real-time API and flags invalid, catch-all, disposable, role-based, abuse and spam-trap addresses. Unknown results and duplicates are free.
- 6
AI scoring
An AI model scores each address for quality at one extra credit, which helps decide whether to send to catch-all and other uncertain addresses.
- 7
Email Finder
Finds a person's work address from a name and company domain, at 20 credits per successful search; unknown results cost nothing.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 6 of 15
That is against the other email verification and deliverability tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace ZeroBounce you would be making a network of real inboxes that open and answer your emails. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for list cleaning with warm-up and DMARC on one bill
ZeroBounce is a thorough list cleaner, with AI scoring, an email finder and an iPhone app, and its ONE plan adds warm-up, inbox tests and DMARC for one domain. That breadth costs, though: 10,000 checks run about $129 as a pack, the dearest of the list cleaners it's listed beside. If all you need is a clean list, cheaper tools do that part.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | About $129 for a one-off pack of 10,000 checks, or $79 a month billed yearly on ONE for 10,000 credits a month with warm-up and DMARC thrown in. Its listed rivals charge $39 to $70 for 10,000, so even ONE is the dearest way to check a list. |
| Free plan and trial | C | A real free plan: 100 checks a month that refill, plus one inbox test, one server test and one blacklist monitor. You need a business email to get it, and 100 checks won't clean a list. |
| Features | B | The one list cleaner here that touches all three jobs: validation with spam-trap and abuse flags, AI scoring and an email finder, then on ONE, warm-up seeds, 100 inbox tests, blacklist monitors and DMARC reports. DMARC covers just one domain, though. |
| Ease of use | B | No App Store rating on record. The core job needs nothing set up: upload a list and download it cleaned. There's an iPhone and iPad app for checking lists away from your desk, too. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web and an iOS app, an API with SDKs in 16 languages and an MCP server, plus Mailchimp and Zapier. No Android or desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who ZeroBounce is for
- Great if you want list cleaning, warm-up and DMARC for one domain on one bill
- Handy when your developers want an API with ready-made SDKs
- Good for checking a list from an iPhone or iPad
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you only need a list cleaned, at about $129 for 10,000 checks
- Tight if you send from several domains, as ONE watches DMARC for just one
Good to know
Good for
- Marketers cleaning large lists before a campaign
- Developers checking sign-ups through an API
- Small senders who want verification, warm-up and DMARC on one bill
Worth knowing
- Warm-up and DMARC monitoring come only with ZeroBounce ONE, and it covers a single DMARC domain.
- Unused tests, monitors, searches and warm-up seeds on ONE do not roll over; only verification credits do.
- The FAQ says credits never expire with an active ONE subscription; otherwise expiry rules may apply depending on when they were bought.
- The free credits need a business or premium email domain at sign-up.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace ZeroBounce you would be making a network of real inboxes that open and answer your emails. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $39, paid once.
What you could not
- A network of real inboxes that open and answer your emails.
- Checking that an address exists without writing to it.
- Reading the reports inbox providers send about your domain.
- A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It plugs into other products, Mailchimp and Zapier among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: roles and permissions.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. ZeroBounce’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
