Which one is for you

Pick Fax.Plus if

  • Fits if you fax a few hundred pages a month from email or your phone
  • Works for small teams that want shared fax numbers under one admin

Look elsewhere if

  • Skip it if you want to receive faxes free, as the free account sends 10 pages in total and has no number
  • Pricey if you need a signed HIPAA BAA, the API or Zapier: all three are on Enterprise, from $79.99 a month billed yearly
  • Tight if you send long documents on Basic, which caps a fax at 60 pages and charges 10 cents a page over 200
  • Watch out: porting a US or Canadian number and toll-free numbers start on Premium at $13.99 a month billed yearly
  • Watch out: numbers beyond the two on Business are $4.99 a month each, and picking a specific number is $19.99 once

Pick Sfax if

  • Fits if your medical office needs an audit trail on every fax
  • Works for practices that fax from desktop programs through a print driver

Look elsewhere if

  • Not for you if you want to see a price first, as none could be read from Sfax's pages
  • Watch out: the trial is a paid plan you must cancel within 14 days, and monthly plans need 30 days' notice to cancel
  • Skip it if you use Android, or Windows older than 11, as neither is supported
  • Tight if you need several lines, since plans include one toll-free line and each extra is $5 a month

How we grade them

Value for money
BBasic is $6.99 a month billed yearly ($8.99 monthly) for a number and 200 pages, right at the edge of this category's cheapest quarter. Extra pages are 10 cents, and the BAA and API need Enterprise at $79.99.
CNo price is on record. Sfax's pages turned our reader away and its help centre lists none, so there's nothing to set against the field. Each extra line is $5 a month, or $48 a year on annual plans.
Free plan and trial
CA free account sends 10 pages in total and then stops. It has no number, so it can't receive a single fax. Enough for one form, not for a month.
DThe 14-day trial means signing up to a paid plan and cancelling within 14 days to avoid the charge. After that there are no refunds or part months.
Features
BLocal, toll-free or ported numbers in 48 countries, faxing from email, print menus and apps, broadcast to 500 people, scheduling, AI text extraction, a team console and an API. Nothing in the listing is missing from the job.
BA web app with folders and a library, print-to-fax on Windows and Mac, annotating and signing, an audit trail on each fax, admin controls with SSO, an API with callbacks, and Box and ShareFile. That covers the job.
Ease of use
BFax.Plus rates 4.7 on the US App Store from 13,183 ratings, which puts it at B on our ease ladder.
CNo store rating on record. You install a print driver to fax from other programs, and admins set up users, lines, permissions, IP safelists and SSO.
Platforms and integrations
AWeb, Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android, with Gmail, Google Drive, Word, Teams, Slack, Dropbox and Zapier, and an API. Slack needs Business, and Zapier and the API need Enterprise.
BWeb, Windows 11, Mac and iPhone, with an API, Box, ShareFile and SSO through Okta, Entra ID, Google Workspace and others. There's no Android app, which keeps it off the top grade.

    Worth knowing

    Fax.Plus

    • The free account has 10 pages in total and cannot receive faxes; a paid plan is needed for a number.
    • Fax.Plus says HIPAA compliance with a signed BAA is available on the Enterprise plan only.
    • The API and Zapier integration are listed only under Enterprise, which starts at $79.99 a month billed annually.
    • Extra numbers cost $4.99 a month each beyond the two on Business and Enterprise; choosing a specific number is a one-time $19.99.

    Sfax

    • Prices could not be read: the Sfax pages on scrypt.com turned away automated reading, and the help center lists no prices.
    • Plans include one toll-free line; each extra line is $5 a month on monthly plans or $48 a year on annual plans.
    • Cancelling a monthly plan needs 30 days' notice by support ticket or email, with no refunds or partial months after the first 14 days.
    • The Windows app supports only Windows 11 on x64 or x86, and the help center lists an iPhone app but no Android app.

    How this page was made

    • The verdict at the top follows a fixed rule. When both tools are in the same category and either is in our top three for it, the verdict follows that ranking: the higher-placed tool is our pick. The top three weigh who each tool suits as well as its grades, so a pick can go against the GPA. Otherwise the page does not pick one and says which grades higher: the higher GPA first; on a tie, the one with a free plan, then the one that starts cheaper in dollars a month, counted the same way for both; if they are still level, what the choice depends on.
    • The grades are our own, from each tool’s review or report card. The GPA is their average.
    • Prices, plans and platforms come from each tool’s listing. The table above says where each price was read and when.
