Which one is for you

Pick iFax if

  • Fits if you fax from your phone and your laptop and want the same app on both
  • Works for small healthcare or legal teams that need HIPAA fax with a shared inbox

Look elsewhere if

  • Skip it if you need to receive on Basic, which sends only and has no number
  • Pricey if you want fax by email, the team inbox, SSO or OCR, as they start on Pro at $33.33 a month billed yearly
  • Watch out: Pro's price moves with the pages, numbers and licenses you pick, with extra users from $16.66 and US numbers at $4.99 a month
  • Watch out: the API, EHR integrations and fax broadcast are priced separately on their own tabs
  • Pricey if you only fax once in a while, as pay-per-fax starts at $1.99 a page

Pick Sfax if

  • Fits if your medical office needs an audit trail on every fax
  • Works for practices that fax from desktop programs through a print driver

Look elsewhere if

  • Not for you if you want to see a price first, as none could be read from Sfax's pages
  • Watch out: the trial is a paid plan you must cancel within 14 days, and monthly plans need 30 days' notice to cancel
  • Skip it if you use Android, or Windows older than 11, as neither is supported
  • Tight if you need several lines, since plans include one toll-free line and each extra is $5 a month

Value for money
DBasic is $12.49 a month billed yearly but has no fax number, so it can't receive. Receiving starts on Plus at $24.99 ($29.99 monthly), about two and a half times this category's middle of $9.96.
CNo price is on record. Sfax's pages turned our reader away and its help centre lists none, so there's nothing to set against the field. Each extra line is $5 a month, or $48 a year on annual plans.
Free plan and trial
CA 7-day trial of Pro, and no free plan after it. The listing doesn't say whether the trial takes a card. A one-off fax costs from $1.99 a page.
DThe 14-day trial means signing up to a paid plan and cancelling within 14 days to avoid the charge. After that there are no refunds or part months.
Features
BSend and receive on every platform, new or ported numbers, a team inbox, OCR, AI extraction and chat, a branded page customers fax you from, broadcast and an API. That's the whole job, though most of it is on Pro.
BA web app with folders and a library, print-to-fax on Windows and Mac, annotating and signing, an audit trail on each fax, admin controls with SSO, an API with callbacks, and Box and ShareFile. That covers the job.
Ease of use
BiFax rates 4.5 on the US App Store from 37,609 ratings, which puts it at B on our ease ladder.
CNo store rating on record. You install a print driver to fax from other programs, and admins set up users, lines, permissions, IP safelists and SSO.
Platforms and integrations
AiPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and web, with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Gmail, Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, HubSpot and Zapier, plus a fax API priced on its own.
BWeb, Windows 11, Mac and iPhone, with an API, Box, ShareFile and SSO through Okta, Entra ID, Google Workspace and others. There's no Android app, which keeps it off the top grade.

    Worth knowing

    iFax

    • Basic sends only and has no fax number; receiving faxes starts on Plus.

    • The Pro price changes with the pages, numbers and licenses chosen in the calculator; $33.33 is its default of 1,000 pages.

    Sfax

    • Prices could not be read: the Sfax pages on scrypt.com turned away automated reading, and the help center lists no prices.
    • Plans include one toll-free line; each extra line is $5 a month on monthly plans or $48 a year on annual plans.
    • Cancelling a monthly plan needs 30 days' notice by support ticket or email, with no refunds or partial months after the first 14 days.

    How this page was made

    • The verdict at the top follows a fixed rule. When both tools are in the same category and either is in our top three for it, the verdict follows that ranking: the higher-placed tool is our pick. The top three weigh who each tool suits as well as its grades, so a pick can go against the GPA. Otherwise the page does not pick one and says which grades higher: the higher GPA first; on a tie, the one with a free plan, then the one that starts cheaper in dollars a month, counted the same way for both; if they are still level, what the choice depends on.
    • The grades are our own, from each tool’s review or report card. The GPA is their average.
    • Prices, plans and platforms come from each tool’s listing. The table above says where each price was read and when.
