Key features

Feeder

Sources beyond RSS
Every plan follows RSS feeds, YouTube, Reddit, Mastodon, Bluesky, Google Alerts, Google News and email newsletters. Telegram, Google Calendar and RSS built from HTML pages start on Plus.
Tiered update speed
Feeds are checked as often as every 30 minutes on Free, every 5 minutes on Plus and every minute on Professional and Enterprise.
Filters, rules and notifications
Keyword and time-of-day filters decide which posts appear and which trigger an alert. Rules, filters and email notifications start on Plus; mobile push notifications are on every plan.
AI summaries and AI Feeds
Feeder summarizes an article with its sources cited and builds a feed for a site that publishes none. Free allows 2 summaries a day and 3 AI feeds, and each higher plan raises both limits.
Browser extension
Extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Yandex put feeds behind a toolbar icon that shows the unread count and opens new posts directly.
Team sharing and integrations
Professional adds team members with permissions, shared feeds and folders, public dashboards, and posting to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and Telegram, along with webhooks and Zapier.

The Old Reader

Feeds and folders
Add a feed by entering a site's address, or import an OPML file with its folders intact. Feeds and folders are rearranged by drag and drop.
List view and keyboard shortcuts
A list view collapses posts to their titles so only the interesting ones need opening, and keyboard shortcuts cover navigation.
Sharing with friends
Follow friends to see the posts they share, like posts, and comment on shared items. Shared, liked and commented posts are stored permanently.
Send To and bookmarklet
The Send To button passes a post's title and address to a sharing service you configure, and a bookmarklet adds posts from any site.
API for third-party apps
A Google Reader-style API lets outside apps sync with an account. The apps page lists clients such as Reeder, Vienna, Liferea and FeedMe.
Premium extras
Premium removes ads and adds full-text search, faster feed refreshes, up to 500 subscriptions, a year of post storage and Instapaper integration.
