Value for money
BUnlock Everything is $19.99 once for iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch, and the Mac app is a separate $39.99. Together that's about fifteen months of a typical to-do subscription, and then there's nothing more to pay. The $19.99 a year Supporter subscription is optional.
ATasks Plus is $24.99 a year, about two dollars a month and in the cheap quarter of paid to-do apps. Monthly is $3.99, so the yearly plan is the one to pick. Rather not subscribe? Individual lifetime is $69.99. And in a shared project only the owner needs Plus.
Free plan and trial
CNo free plan. You get 14 days on iPhone and iPad without starting a subscription, and a free trial download for Mac. After that it's the one-time unlock or the Supporter subscription.
BThe free tier covers capturing tasks and organising projects across your Apple devices, synced through iCloud with no account. But custom workflows, advanced fields, Smart Lists, automation and project sharing all need Tasks Plus, and the listing doesn't spell out where else free stops.
Features
ASmart Lists that pull tasks from different lists and calendars, day, week and month views, kanban-style boards, a four-quadrant Matrix View, a Today Page for planning and a focus timer. Add subtasks, flexible repeats, Templates and Quick Actions. That's the whole job with depth.
AType "Team meeting every Monday at 4pm" and it sets the date and the repeat. Projects take custom statuses, fields and board columns. A focus timer tracks time per task and can block distracting apps. Add location reminders, shared projects with comments and two-way sync with Apple Reminders. That's the job with depth.
Ease of use
B4.59 from about 2,000 App Store ratings, a whisker under our line for an A. It works on the reminders and calendar events already on your devices, so there's nothing to move over.
A4.6 from about 1,900 App Store ratings. It starts as a plain list and only turns into boards and workflows if you build them. You can paste in a whole list or add a task with Siri.
Platforms and integrations
CiPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, built on Apple Reminders, Calendar and iCloud. All Apple, with nothing listed for Windows, Android or the web. The Watch app is a companion used together with an iPhone.
CiPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, with Siri, Shortcuts and Apple Reminders, and ChatGPT or Claude able to join a project. Still one family of devices. The vendor says it isn't available on Windows or Android, and its web app is in beta testing.

Key features

GoodTask

Built on Reminders and Calendar
GoodTask works on the reminders and calendar events already on your devices, so an edit stays with the original reminder and syncs between devices through iCloud.
Smart Lists
Smart Lists bring together tasks from different lists and calendars and filter them by date, priority, tag and more, such as overdue or recently added tasks.
List, calendar, board and matrix views
A list can be shown by day, week or month, as kanban-style boards grouped by date, priority, list or tag, or as a Matrix View with four customizable quadrants.
Today Page and focus timer
Today Page lets you pick what to work on without changing due dates and shows calendar events beside the plan. Next Page focuses on one task with a timer.
Quick Actions and text snippets
A Quick Action applies a saved set of edits, such as rescheduling, changing priority, moving a task or adding tags. Presets and text snippets fill in details as you type.
Subtasks, repeats and Templates
Tasks break into subtasks and repeat on flexible schedules, and groups of tasks can be saved as Templates for routines such as a weekly review.

Tasks

Natural-language capture
Typing a sentence such as "Team meeting every Monday at 4pm" sets the date and the repeat. Tasks can also be added with Siri, from the Share Extension or by pasting a whole list.
Custom statuses and kanban boards
A project can have its own statuses, fields and task types, and can be laid out as a board whose columns are created, renamed and rearranged to fit the work.
Focus timer and time tracking
A timer starts from any task and records time task by task. It can block distracting apps while it runs and stays visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
Repeats and location reminders
Recurring reminders follow a fixed schedule or restart after completion, and a location reminder brings a task back on arriving at or leaving a place.
Shared projects and AI assistants
People invited to a project can be assigned tasks and comment on them. ChatGPT, Claude or another MCP assistant can join as a collaborator labelled Agent, with access that can be revoked.
Apple system integration
More than 50 App Intents work with Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight, alongside widgets, an Apple Watch app, Focus Filters and two-way sync with Apple Reminders.
